18 November 2013 - NOA1 (4 days after sending package)

21 November 2013 - Recieved Text and E-mail with Case Number NOA1

25 November 2013 - Received NOA1 Hardcopy in Mail

25 November 2013 - Alien Registration Number Changed

14 January 2014 - NOA2 (54 days after NOA1)

17 January 2014 - USCIS Shipped to NVC

29th January 2014 - NVC Recieved and assigned Case #

4th February 2014 - Abu Dhabi Embassy Recieved our case and the status is now "READY" for interview

24th September 2014 - Interview date - FINGERS CROSSED!

~ Jan ??,2013 ~ Service Center ~ Vermont I-129F Packet sent

NOTE: Actual sent date unknown due to lawyer negligence - I delivered ALLForms and PAID Lawyer on Nov 7, 2012 - Lawyer kept saying he sent the packet and USCIS must have lost it. When in reality he failed to send the package and only a new copy to USCIS after I made a legal written demand giving him 10 days to perform or return ALL monies paid to him, due to "non-performance".

(IMO it's better to save your money for visits to or from your Fiancé and just fill it out yourself using the K-1 Guide on VJ and Senior Members... They Rock!!!)

11/28/14: Received letter (dated 11/20/14) stating that our case had been received at the Sacremento office and would be processed there and if we don't hear from them in 60 days to contact NVC.

12/9/14: Card is in production

12/16/14: 2 year card in hand!

Ok here is my review! The interview process itself was a piece of cake but my God getting him in the building almost killed us!!

We stayed at Barcelo Santo Domingo which is 3 blocks from the consulate. I was able to get the room for free for 2 nights with air miles! Beautiful hotel for those who are going to spend time in Santo Domingo!

We left the hotel at 5 am and got there walking slowly at 5:15. We had gone the night before to scope out the area so we knew exactly where it was and where we needed to be. The buscones of course tried to get us to buy photos we didn't need and such. They started letting people in at 6:30 and when we passed through security they found headphones in my fiancee's backpack that he had forgotten were in there so he had to go out and have the buscones hold them. But once you leave security you have to go TO THE BACK OF THE LINE!!! By then there were probably a thousand people in line spit took him over an hour to get in again while I sat there partying that they didn't call our number because he had all his forms with him.

We had number 171 and we got called to the window to pay our fees and hand in his forms at around 10:30. We turned in his DS 156, DS 156K, DS 157, DS 230, passport, police letter, passport pictures and passport. I didn't have to turn in the I-134 or the I-864. The lady at our window, #17 was very nice and even joked with me about knowing how to speak Spanish because I'm from Houston. We sat back down and about 45 minutes later we got called up to do his fingerprints.

He went out to security to check on his backpack because they had made him leave it at security and we had seen another man with a backpack so we were wondering why he couldn't have his. And don't you know they put him out AGAIN because we had brought bottled juice with us and they had a problem with the glass bottle. Ay Mi Madre. Luckily by then no one was coming in anymore so he passed through quickly.

At 11:45 we saw our number flash and we headed to window 20. Our officer was male and I walked up and gave him a big smile and he smiled back so at that point I felt good about the interview knowing he wasn't going to be mean! He asked my fiancée his name, then asked me when we met and how we met, when the wedding was going to be, how many times I had visited and how long did I stay each time. We also had a long conversation about how I learned Spanish lol to which he remarked "we'll now I know how you 2 communicate". He asked my fiancée what he did for work and asked him what our plans were for the wedding. I offered him photos but he said he didn't need to see them and then he said the magic words!!

Overall it was a great experience. Our officer was so nice and really I couldn't have asked for a better interview. We were never asked for evidence, birth certificates, questions about eachother's families, nada. We were definitely prepared for the worst but got the best!!

My recommendations: try to have patience, wear comfortable shoes, bring snacks, and make SURE there is nothing even remotely related to electronics or glass in your bag! Sheesh!
