Irish short Six Shooter wins Oscar

The playwright, Martin McDonagh, best known for his plays about Ireland, won the Best Live Action Short Oscar for his film 'Six Shooter' at the Academy Awards in Hollywood last night.

Accepting the Oscar, McDonagh, who wrote and directed the black comedy, paid tribute to those who couldn't be with him, including the actor Ruaidhrí Conroy who was delayed at immigration in the United States.

I can just see that guy standing in custody showing his Oscar ticket but the officers giving him a hard time.

I know I would be pretty pissed. Keep those poe's safe from all the Oscar winners-way to go

I thought Jon Stewart was AWFUL.

Why did he keep making fun of 36 Mafia? I mean they won - get over it. MAking fun of them just made him look bad.

I thought he was not funny.

Finally finished with immigration in 2012!

I don't think he was being cruel, though. And his remark about Martin Scorcese really did make me laugh.

I will admit-I don't watch to see who wins I watch to see what people are wearing

I almost died when Jennifer Garner slipped across the stage-I mean she should get an award for "not" falling, because I was sure she was going to take a dive in front of all those people.

Yeah, I was providing some running commentary to Ewen over the phone, and he kept trying to insist that he DID NOT CARE what people were wearing. Not that I stopped telling him.

I called Gavin to tell him about the Irish actor that didn't get in..............he informed me that it was a co-star from a movie he was in..............I guess as his fiance I should have known that

I have to say that for the most part everyone looked good-I was a little disappointed, I like a good fashion-victim every once in a while. I like watching the fashion wrap-up the next day.

some of my faves:

Reese, Nicole Kidman, Salma Hayek, Jessica Alba............I am forgetting a few

Ugh, was Charlize Theron's dress the most atrocious thing you ever saw or what? It looked like she had a pillow on her left shoulder.

Oh, I thought Stuart Townsend was English! You learn something new every day.

Reese Witherspoon looked bee-yoo-tiful, as did Salma Hayek. I lovd the old-Hollywood look Reese had going on; her dresses are always so pretty and she never looks slutty. And Meryl Streep...I want to look that good when I'm as old as she is. She's got to be 60.

how true, Reese is so pretty.

I thought Jon Stewart was ok, but not totally funny.

I guess he wasn't allowed to get too crazy there!!

Normally I love Jon, his daily show is hilarious

Yup her man is Irish

Reese said that she found that dress in a vintage store in London(well "her people" found it).

Meryl looked great-I too hope that I look that good at her age.

Can't wait for the fashion wrap-up on E!

I just can't stand the people on the show. I should do it

Meryl Streep is 56, FYI. I thought she was a lot older than Susan Sarandon, but I guess not.
