Cr1 question regarding marriage certificate

Hello to all

As I have been fairly active lately, I came up with another question regarding the CR-1. My wife and I have our marriage certificate from her country, Nicaragua, however, it is not yet inscribed in their civil government (lengthy period). Will the USA care about this? What exactly are they looking for when regarding our marriage certificate in the I-130 package? Any information here would be awesome.

Also, to add, legally her name has not changed because it is not inscribed. Would this seem weird to file if she kept her name and we changed it in the US? Thanks again

If the marraige certificate you have right now is the LEGAL/Finalized mararaige certitcate from the Government/ Civil Registrar Office of Nicaragua I don't think there's any problem with that. Your wife will surely know if the marraige certificate you have right now is legal. :)

In the Philippines, the maiden names (unmarried name) and the married name are both written on the marraige certificate.

Just make sure you're having the legal and finalized marraige certificate from Nicaragua. :)

Since people here in VJ does not really know the laws in Nicaragua so have your wife verify it herself :)

March 05, 2014 - Lawyer Filled Up DS-261 and Received both AOS&IV Invoice
March 11, 2014 - Paid IV and AOS
March 13, 2014 - Sent Docs and Bar Coded Cover Sheets to the Lawyer (They will be submitted to NVC)
March 14, 2014 IV Fee Appears PAID, DS260 Available, Filling Up
March 15, 2014 - AOS Appears PAID
March 16, 2014 - DS260 Submitted
March 22, 2014 - Lawyer Sent Docs to NVC

April 11, 2014 - Checklist; AOS Form I-864 Error

April 12, 2014 - Sent response to Checklist

May 1, 2014 - Case Complete! Yohooooo!!

Now waiting for schedule of interview---- :)

Will be having my medical exam next week please say a little prayer for me! Thanks a lot everyone! :)

Well the thing is here it is not "recognized" by the Nicaraguan government unless inscribed. I was curious how much the USA wants to look into it for the cr1. For example, will they want to personally contact the Nicaraguan government to verify the info? If so, we will need it inscribed first. However, if they just want a marriage between two people, that is covered.

However, if they just want a marriage between two people, that is covered.

You might want to have it inscripted as early as now. The USCIS need to understand every word written on the marraige certificate.
