Can anyone help me here?

I am so lost in understanding these timelines for processing and what I might be able to do to speed up the process. Only Notice of Action I have received thus far is Form I-797C which only confirms my Petition was received and accepted. The USCIS office address at the bottom is for Overland Park, KS. Is that where my case is being processed? None of the timelines show Kansas as a Service Center. Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

When did you file your petition? Anyway, there's nothing you can do to speed up the process honestly just sit back and relax like all of us. Plus, I have no idea when you filed your petition but they started sending petitions to Overland Park in May and recently there have been transfers reported from Overland Park so you could say that USCIS currently, is busy transferring May Petitions. After the transfers, they get approved within two months so yeah that's about it :) what's your P.D?

I am from Kansas and I know they just added a new office in Overland Park. The news paper a year ago announced they were hiring 500 people for this office and 300 for the Lee's Summit office. Not sure how many they actually hired. My understanding from the article was the office would be handling some of the I-30 backlog along with some other things. The target date was November 2013 to open but never heard anything else.

I found an article to share.

It takes from 4+ months to see approval for the I-130 with 10 - 11 months being the median right now.

The most important thing you can do is make sure you do not miss anything when you go through this process. You can't really speed it up the process is quick for some and others it is slow.

There are some great guides here to help answer some of the questions you have about the process. I would start there and read and as you go throught the guides you will learn a great deal! http://www.visajourney.com/content/guides (not sure which process you are starting). Another place to visit: http://www.visajourney.com/faq/k1faq.htm

* Start with these, they explain so much about the process and will hopefully prevent you from some of the mistakes myself and others have made.

There are some very knowledgeable people here who have posted the lessons learned and bumps they have had along the way. I used to have the link to some of these discussions and I can't find them.

Your profile, timeline, and the country portal you join helps you make friends from the same region, but most important for myself is getting to know people. We have made some great friends here and it is a beautiful support system during the crazy process this can be.

Best of luck on your journey!

Kathy

Hey Kathy, make sure you know what forum you're in before posting guide links. ;) A k1 guide will not be helpful to a CR1/IR1 visa path couple. ;) but otherwise you posted some great advice and I agree.
