K-1 Visa - Brazilian Fiance

I am preparing to apply for a K-1 visa for my fiancé, who lives in Brazil, and I am a bit confused with the information regarding the financial status of the sponsor, myself. I have read mixed information about the 100% minimal poverty rate requirement, a requirement that I am now meeting, but I do fall below the 125% that most people seem to advocate for. My question then comes to, does the consulate in Brazil allow for co-sponsorship when filling for a K-1 visa? I am current graduate student, graduating in May 2014, currently hold a position at a State University and have upcoming promising positions, which can be proved by various university references. With this in mind, I wondered if anyone had experienced co-sponsorship in the past. Thoughts and advice would be much appreciated.

Here is a copy of the poverty guideline:

As stated on it, only sponsors in the military need to meet 100% of the poverty guideline, everyone else needs to meet 125%

Yes, Brazil allows co-sponsors. Look around the VJ website or check the Brazil portal to find more threads about this :)

When I petitioned for my husband I was in college and had no income. I used a cosponsor for both the K1 and AOS without any issues.

Thank you for sharing. Did this happen in Brazil? As a sponsor, I am aware that I have the complete and file a Affidavit of support as a primary sponsor, in a co-sponsor situation, would my co-sponsor need to complete and file a Affidavit for my fiance as well? Not sure how a co-sponsorship work. Many thanks!

Yeah for Brazil. You would both complete one. I filled out mine with zero income and a letter explaining that was in college and was not employed then had my cosponsor fill out the same paperwork and submitted with their birth certificate. (You'll have to do the same for the AOS as well if still using the cosponsor).
