Hello all -

Yesterday I went with my wife to our i751 interview in NYC.

I never - ever - get nervous during interviews, and of course, yesterday I was peeing myself. I couldn't sleep the night before - pretty horrible haha.

We are totally legitimate. We have pictures of both of our families together outside the USA and all that good stuff - we can prove we are serious.

I got every single answer right - but one. We got married on October 8 2010. I speak native Portuguese(Brazil) and Italian(Duo-Citzsp) and even understand a little Spanish. For all of you who know October resembles oito(pt) otto(it) - and yesterday of course the knucklehead here replied that we got married on October-10-2010 (10/10/10) (twice!!!!) instead of October-08-2010 (our wedding 10/08/10) - I was freaking out I didn't even got the day of the week right I guess. Well, needless to say I got smacked all the way back home. Gosh, if she asked my birthday prob I would have to think twice or three times on any given day.

The interviewing officer seemed veeeery serious from the beginning to the end. She kept pictures of our families together abroad. My wife and I have car and insurance together - same address, bank account together, even her name is on my life insurance policy!!

Do you guys think that getting that one answer twisted may have been a problem? ClockWatch2.gifcray5ol.gif

I just couldn't sleep again - And we woke up this morning I was still getting smacked. wow.gif

Thank you!

I was thought since kindergarten to put DAY-MONTH-YEAR. That's where in my restless dazed mind the mistake came from. I was thinking of eight-ten-2010 eight-October-2010 as eight in my head is 8 and October is 10 anywhere in the world - I know, just beat me :/

Hello!

One of the reasons why *I think* some people get interviews is so that the IO can evaluate your behavior, in addition to answering your questions correctly. Some IOs who have done this for a while can kind of tell if someone is legit. I doubt that one minor mistake in how you answer the question may be a cause for concern, especially if the evidences you have provided and your behaviors are solid proofs of your relationship.

I can understand your nervousness - I would too! I was when we did the interview for my conditional GC. At this point in time I doubt anyone can really say for sure what the result will be since every IO is different. All I can say is just relax and wait - I doubt the worse will ever happen. Good luck :)

ROC Journey:

4/24/13 - Submitted I-751 application

4/26/13 - I-751 officially filed

6/11/13 - Biometrics done

8/14/13 - Rec'd RFE

9/21/13 - Submitted RFE response

9/23/13 - RFE response rec'd at VSC

(about 2 months later)

11/21/13 - Service request via Tier 1 submitted

12/11/13 - Response to service request rec'd - vague info about processing times

12/12/13 - Service request via Tier 2 submitted

12/10/13 - APPROVED!!! (letter rec'd 12/14/13)

12/16/13 - 2nd Service request response rec'd

12/17/13 - Card production email/text rec'd (online case updated)!

12/24/13 - Notification rec'd via email regarding card mailed on 12/23/13 (online case updated as well)

12/26/13 - 10-yr card rec'd!

One thing I have learned on this journey:

There is no such thing as an "overkill" evidence package. Submit anything and everything you can. Who knows what will prevent you from getting an RFE.

Did you actually correct yourself right after giving the incorrect date to the officer ? Mistakes like these can happen and even though I cannot speak for that particular officer's perception of that wrong answer, I hope that you actually corrected yourself right away.

Hey -

No - I didn't realize that until we left. I had no idea. My wife tried to say something but the lady said that the question was for me.

When we walked out my wife was so upset that she even said that she cant comprehend how I got her birthday right.

Officer asked twice with who I had our car insurance with - and both times I said - "With my wife" but the question was the company providing us insurance lol - im telling you;)

Try not to worry too much! My husband and I have been married since 2006 and he STILL gets the date wrong. When we went for his interview for his visa back in September, he told the interviewer I had two siblings...one of each. LOL...I have a brother...just 1. He mistakenly thought the interviewer asked for children. We all get nervous, we all make blunders...if you've nothing to hide, and your relationship is real, then it will all work out!
