Good luck with the interview! I dont know about Cambodoa, but in my country, the ones that had their fiance's with them had easier interviews. plus it is nice to share the experience with your fiancee

Thank you for your respond. I want to go to my fiancee interview too but I can not take long vacation on Jan.

I'm not familiar with the culture and tradition of your country neither am I an expert in the visa business but all I can suggest is to wait for a while maybe? I mean why don't you give yourself and your fiancee some time? orgenize yourself financially in the mean while think about a better route to approach and start all over again

don't loose hope

good luck

Thank you. My finacee will have her

interview on Jan, 9. Should I go to Cambodia for her interview or no? I read forum from here and other people who did k1 said best that I should not go.

It's totally optional. Make sure you guys are on the same page. Also, make sure that your paperwork is on point. One wrong date, a missing signature is all it takes for them to say it needs to be corrected come back on a second interview. A delay in which I know no one wants.

Okay I make 21k a year and my father makes 40k. Ik I make over the poverty line but just to be sure. A household of 4.

Who are you counting in the household of four?

Is it you, your financee and two other dependents of yours?

Wedding Ceremonies that are not legal do not count as being married as far as the law goes. The requirement for K1 is that you are not legally married, so if you were married in a ceremony and did not apply for a marriage license and did not have it legalized then you are eligible for a K1. Most countries have religious customs and social traditions that people adhere to, and they are well aware that these traditions exist at the consulate. Either way, if you are not legally married you are eligible for a K1 bottom line, regardless if you had a wedding ceremony. This denial was probobly due to other issues that did not give the officer a warm fuzzy. Unfortunately its all about convincing them without any suspicion or doubt. The human factor is in the equation so theres no way to know if anyones application is 100% airtight.

Just to go through it again will answer CO's question that you are legit or not. No one will go through this painful process if not legit. You improve your chance 100% just do it all over again. Make few more trips in the meantime and gather lot more evidence. Second time will be lot easier then you imagine. I have been there so know the who;e process. But you have to commit to each other. Lot of people give up so easily. CO never pinpoint a reason why he is denying you unless some paperwork wrong. They deny based on suspicion, not evidence. So they never tell you exact reason for reason they are not sure. It's easy for them just to deny if they think it's not legit. They denied me without any reason first time just looking at us. Did not matter all the evidence we had including traveling to many countries together staying in hotels in many countries etc. So if you really love her, commit to each other, get married or file K-1 again and get ready for next interview with mountains of evidence. Good luck to you. I went through every process and very familiar with local laws and all the procedures. Cambodia is different then any other countries. That's why most people don't understand and mistakenly thinking you are married already. US Embassy honors local tradition. If you don't follow local rules and procedures, you will be denied at the US Embassy as well. It's slow, painful procedure in both ends. For a US Citizen to marry a Cambodian, that alone is a very lengthy and complex procedure. Just to accomplish that gives you enough to approve for visa at the US Embassy. So take your time and do it carefully. Single mistake can cost you again

Yeah, rehearsing kinda just means that you're both remembering the dates correctly and stuff like that. No story to come up with if you're legit.

And it's probably a good idea to rehearse a little bit. I mean, I was trying out some of the interview questions on my husband (We've been together about 10 years.) and he didn't know what my favorite color is. LOL. He's like "Well, it's never been important to know it, in all the years we've been together!" Okay, but I know his favorite color. So yeah, probably a pretty good idea.
