Today is my youngest son's birthday. I'm taking off at noon and meeting him for lunch to celebrate at the Spaghetti Factory. Then tonight we'll do his gifts. There is someone in Egypt who is taking this day very hard. He wanted to be here to share the celebration. These two have a very special friendship and both are disappointed. I have some other business to take care of this afternoon then I'm going home to crash for awhile. Tomorrow I'm back at the OT. The weather is turning colder here again, but I guess considering Christmas is sneaking up on us its high time it does. Hope you are all having a great day. By the way, the Thursday title really messed with me. I panicked and thought I had managed to miss all of the above activities! Knowing where my head has been planted lately, it wasn't a far stretch to convince myself maybe I had. That's one way to get the blood going! LOL

 me too. At first I thought Maggie resurrected an old thread announcing she was back home from Morocco.

Happy birthday to your son Jean! (F)

Whoa, that messed me up, too! This week has been so strange, it's been difficult to tell which day of t he week it is.

Work is looking really fierce today. A ton of stuff to do! But most of the attorneys will be off tomorrow until the 27th, so we'll have a couple of days to play catch up while they're gone. I'm looking forward to that!

Does anyone have any special plans for Christmas? I know a lot of you aren't Christians, but I thought you might have your own special traditions during this time of year. My sister and brother-in-law are coming into town on Friday from NC and they'll be staying until Tuesday. We'll spend the entire weekend at my parents' house. We always ride around to see the Christmas lights, do some last-minute shopping, bake some yummy goodies, and go to a Christmas Eve service and out for Chinese or Japanese food later that evening. Then on Christmas day, we get up insanely early to open presents, have a big brunch, go to a movie, then we come back home and take a nap.

This will be Amed's first Christmas here, so I am anxious to see what he thinks. He has been to a church before with a friend of his, but he sat in the back and just watched what went on. This will be the first time he comes to church with me. I don't want him to feel uncomfortable or out of place. Usually, the Christmas Eve service consists of a bunch of carols and some Bible readings, along with a musical performance. It lasts about 45 minutes or so. It's a far cry from the televangelist services he watches on tv sometimes (he finds it fascinating that they yell and gesticulate so much).

Do y'all think it's weird for him to come to the service? There are a lot of non-Christians who come on Christmas Eve who just sit and enjoy the service. I'm not expecting him to sing or pray, or to convert or anything, just to sit and share the evening with me and to see how we celebrate. If non-muslims were allowed in the Friday prayer service at the mosque, I would be happy to go with him from time to time if he wanted me to.

Just thought I would get opinions from some of you who are muslims or who have muslim husbands.

Hope everyone is having a good day!

Oh NOW i know just what to get Maggie for Chirstmas.

Oh NO!! When I saw the pic on WOM's post, I said , I just know what is going to happen next, and sure enough!! Apparently I need them. Thanks WOM: Glad you are right on top of things with your pictures!!

I figured out what confused me...I saw Melinda's post that she was leaving thursday, and for some reason thought that was the next day. When you are out of your element you lose track of time. Maybe I just needed it to be Thursday sor some reason. Thanks to those of you who just went with it...I'll take my meds and be ok.

I did see a post from VP, I thought in the Eid or Sarah's working husband thread. Maybe it was a hallucination. Ok, no VP.

Doodle: I hpe things work out for you the way you plan.

Janine: Go with something in between. Nice (no jeans) but not a suit.

Jenn: Can you make it ok for another 12 hours until we really get to Thursday?

Maggie

We will have family dinner at my house. Dad does most of the cooking. His mac and cheese is the best, and is required for his entry into the house!!

Interesting question you asked about church. My ex would not even set foot on church property nor would he allow me to attend mosque with him (to see what it was about). Now I know why! Omar says he will attend church with me regularly. I think it's good that your SO is going with you to church. Even if he doesn't participate, he can see what goes on and have a better understanding. Hope he enjoys it.
