I'm still trying to find the sexism in the comments.

Its all part of the absolutist's half a$$ attempt to make everyone telling them they're racist and sexist look like a thin skinned baby. They simply cannot understand why what they say is racist or sexist so they now play the role of EVERYTHING being racist or sexist. You see, its not what they're saying, they're perfect, its that other people are too sensitive,

Here is what Palin said:

Palin compares the national debt to slavery. “Our free stuff today is being paid for by taking money from our children and borrowing from China,” she said in Iowa on Saturday. “When that money comes due… it’ll be like slavery when that note is due. We are going to beholden to the foreign master.”

The comment is accurate on how stupid we are being as a country right now with the borrow borrow borrow mentality that has gone beyond anything reasonable for growth and shelving the responsibility of payback to the future.. We all know what she is trying to get across here, we can probably do 10 minutes of digging on the internet and find similar usage by both parties in the dozens.. Still she should have left out the "it'll be like slavery" and avoided easy attacks.

Bashirs comment: Stupid comment, not clever (amazed at the comments on other blogs on how this is somehow clever) but yeesh.. sexist? C'mon.. It's typical left/right "You said something stupid and I'm going to fry you for it". Happens everyday he just went a bit over the line...

I don't believe it.. Prove it to me and I still won't believe it. -Ford Prefect

Obviously it's not.

I'm sorry, I don't understand what you're asking. Surely if something offends you, then it's offensive. What else is there to say?

Are you asking why racism is offensive? I thought that should be self-explanatory too. Shouldn't it?

Come to think of it, you have no personal ties to Palin or Bashir either do you? Perhaps you can define the meaning of "offensive" in that context?

If you can't explain to me what your meaning of the word "offensive" is as it pertains to this discussion, then there is no sense in continuing it.

I equate being offended to being hurt, do you? Is that what you mean when you say offensive?

That's a very Clintonite thing to ask, Teddy.

Want a nice cigar AJ?

Errr I already have. Although we're on a different page now, so look back maybe?

Again, I equate being offended to being hurt. Do you?

I did not find what Palin said to be offensive at all. Unless you're totally hyper-partisan, it was obvious she was just trying to point out how, if you continually borrow from somebody, then they will be in a controlling position. She used the comparison to slavery which was quite a stretch. Of course, it has been pointed out that there is a proverb that says pretty much the same thing, so maybe that's where she got the idea. Was it a good comparison? No. Offensive? No. It was just something that would cause most people to roll their eyes. It definitely didn't deserve the rabid response from Bashir.

If you find what she said to be offensive, then you're probably just looking to find offense.

Of course, what's really sad is those who are so partisan, they can't even see that what he said was wrong. To try and defend him with the argument that he didn't actually say he wanted someone to defecate in her mouth or that somebody should - he just said she deserved it - is simply absurd. That is even more of a stretch than what she said. And, by the way, I tend to lean towards the opinion that nobody deserves that treatment. It's difficult to understand how someone could support what he said just because you agree with him politically.

And there was nothing sexist about what he said.

You started the thread saying that you were offended by what Bashir said, despite them both being stupid.

Then you said that you don't get why people are offended by things they have no connection to.

Then you asked me what 'offensive' means.

Does that make sense to you? Like I said, I'm not sure what answer you're looking for since you're in the best position to provide the answer.

No, I never stated that I was offended by any of it, that's where your mistake is.
