You screwed the pooch here I'm afraid. The embassy is only interested in the results from the Knightsbridge doctors. Even getting a test from another doctor elsewhere wouldn't matter to them.

Unfortunately as far as I'm aware, there is no do-over. You need to wait a year and resubmit. Far as I know, anyway. Also pretty sure your VWP and such is invalidated, but I could be wrong. You will want to look into that, as if it is, your only option is for her to travel to the UK now over the next year+.

The visa will be refused under a INA 212a medical ineligibility. This is an ineligibility for non-immigrant and immigrant entry into the US. So, no ESTA, no VWP, no IV until the drug tests are clean, usually for a year. If you have what appears to be ESTA approval, and are able to board a plane, you will be turned around at the US end, as the medical refusal will come up in the immigration officer's system. Sorry.

I know the US military allows for a small amount of THC in their urine test to allow for passive smoking, Don't know if the embassy does or not., Either way I doubt they will permit a second test. The whole purpose it to give no warning.

Got a reference link for that but about US military allowing trace amounts?

The embassy isn't going to care how the THC got there. A positive result is a positive result.

Yes, but I read your links and it said that the threshold for a positive is 50 whatevers.

OP: The whole point of a drug test is that it is random, If you knew when it as coming, you could avoid smoking for 2 weeks and pass. You think saying, "Just let me take the test again in 2 weeks" will work?

You made some reference that results are pending, so I'd follow that through. Good luck.

Im sorry, but its REALLY REALLY REALLY hard to fail a drug test from second hand smoke. REALLY HARD. Most occasional users (a couple times a month), can STILL pass a drug test a couple days after they partake.

It really doesn't look good for you.

The cut off level would have to be REALLY low for you to fail due to second hand smoke. AND a few weeks would be more than enough time for it to clear your system.

Im not saying you are lying. Im just stating fact. I have been drug tested numerous times, as well as worked at a UA clinic.

Interesting, when I was in the British military many lifetimes ago and they were bringing in compulsory random drug tests we were told that research had been done into passive smoking.

They told us that to test positive for marijuana from passive smoking you would have to have been standing in a smoke filled phonebox for about 8 hours breathing it in.

I've never known wether or not that was true or if they were just saying it so no-one would try to use passive smoking as an excuse.

My only reference is what I was told when I was drug tested by the US Air Force many years ago. They said it was to allow for going to concerts where you were in the midst of the smoke or other areas where you had been exposed not by choice. Don't know what the allowable levels were but trace would probably be a good guess.

If they asked for a drug test at Knightsbridge you must have admitted smoking it in the past. So admitting previous drug use AND THEN testing positive for it does not bode well for you.

You need to either stop smoking it or if you are being truthful with us you need to find new friends

There's some discussion about whether poppy seeds can trigger a false positive, as well.

Either way, I would think you could get a second test on your own. If it comes up negative, with such a small interval between tests, you could potentially question the validity of the first test. This is all hypothetical though. I have absolutely no clue if it could work.

Not for THC

Wow can't believe some of the answers here. jeez a bit harsh don't ya think lol

Sorry bout the situation mate. Unless they hot boxed you at your party, it would be hard to fail. haha you sure they didn't make you some medibles for your birthday without you knowing?

I'm not sure how it works over there, but i don't think i was even drug tested here. i just said no to previous drug use and that was it i think. Unless they did it and just didn't mention it because i passed. Also, i was given the test results before you have to hand them in with your application. I'm assuming they got sent straight to immigration there? otherwise whats to stop you from "losing" the envelope and going in for a new physical in a couple weeks? Just a thought.

I know that when i went for mine, i never smoked for that month but was still around ALOT of smoking. 3 days staying at a friends place for a mardis gras parade thing, where everyone (like 6 people) were smoking constantly, and then the weekend before my exam we both went to a sublime concert. Which was just a room full of hundreds of people smoking blunts for 3 hours.

If, like you say, you have never smoked before in your life, and it was infact passive smoking, it should have been out of your system within a couple of weeks, at most. Drink water and do excercise. If you are a regular smoker, or your douche bag friends did infact feed you some, then you might wanna get your shoes on and start running those fat cells off. lol

London doesn't routinely drug test. They test if you admit to drugs or you give them cause to believe you may have taken drugs. Just giving them suspicion is enough for them to write something unfavourable on the report.

Medicals in London go direct to embassy by courier. You can't "lose" it.

But they don't seem to, which befuddles me.

Here's what I think.

Beneficiarys don't do enough research and leave it to the petitioner who may not really know the going ons with the beneficiary.
