Can anyone share their experiences filing with the USCIS in bangkok for Spouse immigration visa? How did you show intent to re-establish domicile? Did your application require sponsors? Thanks for your help. All I have to show intent to re-establish domicile is my US bank-account, California teachers retirement fund, and I can use my parents address as the intended address. Will this work?

Re-establishing or proving an existing US domicile is the same, no matter where you are applying, so you might find this very long, but detailed, thread from the Canada sub-forum useful: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/164618-proving-domicile-when-not-living-in-the-us/

Also, you'll be the primary sponsor and need to complete the I-864, but if you don't have a US income or plenty of assets, you're going to need a joint-sponsor in the USA to cover that part and also complete an I-864.

Thanks for posting that. The domicile question seems to be coming up alot lately for some reason. That thread you linked explains it all pretty nicely.

I'm right now in the same position, maybe a little worse, because I don't have parents in the U.S. I have done a lot of research on this site and it seems that sometimes using a parents address works and sometimes it doesn't. For example, I found a thread where a Canadian listed the address of his parents in the U.S., but the visa of his spouse was initially denied with the justification that parents will say and do anything for their children. In other words, a real signed lease weighs more. So if you can, have your parents write up a lease that you both sign. Or if you have enough money, rent an apartment in advance. I have read that a U.S. bank account alone is not enough to prove U.S. domicile because even foreign citizens who no longer reside in the U.S. sometimes still have their U.S. bank accounts and credit cards. By domicile they mean real ties to the U.S. Even if people move away they can keep a bank account/credit card open because it doesn't really hurt to do that. But if for example they have a real U.S. address where they pay rent, that would hurt to keep it (financially). So a real signed lease ties you to the U.S. much more than your bank account.
