My wife also went for interview Nov, 2013 at Lagos Nigeria embassy. After the interview, the consular officer gave her white paper, and said her case is under AP. The consular officer did not take/retain her passport. Why?

She's in AP which means they will be doing probably an investgation. Maybe a field visit. Paperwork may need to be verified. Until they conduct their review no need for them to retain her passport. If approved than she will be asked to being in her passport. Usually not a good sign they didn't keep her passport. But lets hope for the best.

Were there issues at interview?

Do you have red flags? age, religion, lack of visits and long duration?

What were the questions asked?

The focus of the CO what were they concentrated on?

They found something they need to check closer?

Are there children involved?

So its your wife and two children coming over than?

AP use to be almost mandatory like it is in Pakistan. Usually its something needs to be checked. Maybe name or whatever.

So Are you naturalized or American Born citizen? Them asking that of you they may be looking into the timeline of all that.

I am a naturalized citizen. my first born was born after my wedding and before naturalization. My second born was born after my wedding and after my citizenship.

I just filed for my first born. The second born will become citizen directly.

Are you muslim ? AP is more common in Nigeria since 2009 but not so much for woman. AP in Nigeria usually only lasts a few months while they finish checking things out

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

60 days before you can contact them. After that 60 days, your fiance can email them for status update which is of no help as they will only give a standard response with no specifics about your case. Just keep hoping.

I have emailed them before and they only told me they would contact him when they were complete. I have spoken with the DOC several times and they can't give me any infomrmation and I have also asked my Congressman to contact them on our behalf which his reply was he would do everything he could do.

How did you out who the DOC is? And do you have a number? I would like to try my luck calling him.
