Hello all, first post here. Let me give a little background before making my question. So I met my wife here in Peru last year, and in May of this year we got married. After completing 6 months here, I started the I130 process in September and had my interview the 18th of November. At the interview, they gave us a yellow slip and told us we were approved but that we needed to send the original I864 instead of the photocopy I had printed and presented. That same day I had the original form sent through DHL for it to arrive Wednesday, and DHL confirmed that the embassy had it that Friday, the 22nd of November. Because plane tickets to San Francisco had spiked and because the CO at window 15 in Lima told me that the visa would be in Trujillo by the next week (last week) if they received it that same week, I decided to buy my plane tickets for the 10th out of Bogota, because I needed to pick up some stuff from some family in Colombia before leaving. So here we are 1 week before and I'm worried its not going to come in time. I've sent various emails ranging from Wednesday 2wks ago when the form was supposed to arrive in Lima and just yesterday I received a response after having to call numerous times to tell me that "At this time all documents received by our office are pending review by our consular officers. As soon as your wife's documents are reviewed, she will receive an email indicating to pick up her passport with either a visa or requesting more documents. This process usually take 10 working days from the time we receive the documents from DHL. We suggest not to make any travel arrangements before having the passport with the visa."

I'm worried as it'll take me about 2 and a half days to get to Bogota on land and I don't have any money left to buy plane tickets there. This whole process has been a nightmare from start to finish and the only reason I came back to Peru after volunteering for 4 months last year was because I had met someone special I couldn't live without. That's why I've continued here and I've refused to leave her despite my despising it here. My question is, does anyone know how long it will take for the visa to get here? I've been checking the us visa site and at this moment I don't have an airway bill number. I've tried checking my application through ceac.gov but it seems to be broken for me as it wont let me check the status of my application. Its driving me nuts, I just want to go home . If someone can think of a way to speed up the process so I can leave already, Id be extremely appreciative! Thanks, hope somebody can think of something because the waiting has been killing me.

you can call DoS Hotline #, when they are open (# at the bottom of my profile) and inquire for casefile status. They SHOULD be able to tell you, on what date, the stuff was received, and also, what day the stuff was reviewed.

problems with ceac.state.gov ? try it again on a pc running winders, using IE as the browser, version 7 or better, and allow for popups.
