Hello!

So my Biometrics Appointment is December 18th @ 10am, after this appointment, what should I expect to hear? Is the next time I hear from USCIS for an interview (providing I do not get an RFE)? Do they send out my biometrics stuff, or do I have to do something?

I also made an infopass appointment a little while back and she told me at USCIS office that once I receive my receipt that I've filled for my I-485, that I can bring it in to the USCIS office and they will give me a "temporary green card", so I scheduled an INFOPASS appointment for tommorow morning. Just curious if anyone else has received a temporary green card and what it allows you to do? As in getting an SSN, and a drivers license? (I already received a Michigan drivers license, but it expires when my I-94 # expires, which is December 8th)...

Thanks everyone,

And good luck on your journey(s)

If my mind serves me correctly you cannot get an I-551 "Green Card" stamp unless your Green Card is approved and on its way to you and you have an emergency. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but think that in order to go to Canada you will need to wait either for you EAD or GC, whichever comes first.

Concerning what you will hear after the biometrics, within the next 2-3 months your EADAP should get approved and/or you will receive a notice saying that you have an interview for your AOS or you will receive a letter saying that you may potentially not have an interview.

Hmmm I wonder if the gal at the office gave me incorrect information? Is it possible she meant an updated I-94 #? I have no important reason to travel, mainly just curious!

Does EAD or AP remain on hold if you get an RFE or are they still approved?

No such thing as GC for someone whose permanent residence has not yet been approved. After bio you just wait. In 2 or 3 months you will get your EAD/AP. Sometime you will get a letter for an interview, or you will wait and get approved with no interview.

Any RFE you get will pause all cases.

AOS for my husband
8/17/10: INTERVIEW DAY (day 123) APPROVED!!

ROC:
5/23/12: Sent out package
2/06/13: APPROVED!

Do you think perhaps she meant an updated i 94 card? Or did she give me incorrect information? Just don't want to waste my time going there IF it does nothing for me.

She gave you bunk information; it's pointless to go there.

There is no extension of an I-94 for a K-1 entrant. You cannot receive an I-551 stamp without already being a permanent resident with a good reason for needing one. It is pointless to go there. There is nothing to do after filing for AOS and going to biometrics other than waiting. You wait to receive your EAD/AP and wait to receive your green card after that, either through approval at an interview, or approval without interview.

The people that answer the phones at the USCIS call center are not immigration officers and usually have no clue what they are talking about. You should avoid taking advice and instructions from the misinformation hotline.

Thanks! I did cancel my appointment, seemed like she was incorrect for sure.
