I am preparing the documents for the K1 AOS procedure.

The FAQ says there are a lot of documents needed. Some I have no problems with, but others could be irrelevant for Dora people like myself (Texas resident). I prefer someone with a K1 DORA AOS already done looks over this summery to tell me which is which. We could really use a Dora FAQ, because the normal AOS is similar, but not the same.

Payment [$395 I believe]

Copy of US Citizens Passport [speaks for itself]

I-485 Application To Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status [filled out by me (immigrant) and ready]

Copy of non-US Citizens Spouses Visa from passport [speaks for itself]

If the non-US Citizen Spouse is is a K1 Visa holder a copy of the I-129F NOA2. [speaks for itself]

A copy of form I-94, Nonimmigrant Arrival Departure Record (this was put in your passport when you arrived) [speaks for itself]

Copy of the non-US Citizen Spouses passport (translated if required) [speaks for itself]

A certified copy of your marriage certificate (translated if required) [got one right here]

2 photos of the non-US Citizen Spouse - (see note) - like you have done before. [speaks for itself]

G-325A Biographic Information [does this form need to be done only by me? Or also by my wife?]

I-693, Medical Examination of Aliens Seeking Adjustment of Status (or copy of I-693A form for K1/K2 Visa Holders) [Got my DS-3025 changed to the I-693A by a civil surgeon]

I-864 Affidavit of Support [speaks for itself]

I-765 Application for Employment Authorization. You will apply as category ©(9), "adjustment applicant". (optional, but you cannot work without this) [Do you need this form for DORA? I think not?]

I-131 Application For Travel Document (this is optional but is for traveling outside the US during the application period, known as "advance parole")(also see question 6.7) [not doing this, cost more money I don't have]

A copy of your birth certificate. (bring an extra when you move, or two or three if you can). You need a translated copy if it is not in English. [got one right here]

Currently we don't have any supporting evidence of our togetherness but the marriage and the joint bank account. I am not insured yet, and not on the car insurance either. I hope this will not pose a problem.

Hi,

We did the DORA and got accepted/interviewed. You (K1) need to submit the following in order to be accepted:

1. Payment of $395 in the form of cashier's check or money order payable to USCIS

2. I-485 completely filled up form

3. photocopy of K-1 visa

4. photocopy of I-94 (though they will also get your original I-94)

5. photocopy of NOA2 (approved I-129F)

6. photocopy of applicant's (K1) passport

7. photocopy of marriage license/certificate

8. 2X2 picture/photo

9. G-325A form filled out by K1 applicant

10. Vaccination supplemental of K1 filled out by the civil surgeon only if the medical examnation was done within the year

11. Notarized Affidavit of Support of USC (I-864)

12. Photocopy of birth certificate

13. Photocopy of US Citizens passport (optional)

The goal of the DORA program is to process the application within 90 days, thus it is not practical to apply for EAD.

Just bring your joint bank account proof. They might ask for it. In our case, they didn't ask for one. They even didn't ask for pictures. Anyways, just be prepared. Don't forget to bring your original documents. They might take a look at them. Don't forget your original passport with I-94.

Godspeed,

(F)

Godspeed,

The US Citizen is Reqiuired to have some form of Government I.D. such as Texas DL or Texas ID. or US passport. Immigration will make and keep a copy of it.

Also Form I864 does not have to be notarized. Mine was not and it was not an issue. Include tax returns and W-2's for last 3 years along with form I864.

It was also very important to have all documentation stacked in the right order. Immigration was very picky about this. Place 2X2 pics on top of the stack. Next place the Government ID's, next place the I485. If any other document is ontop of that I485 they may send you home or at the very least give you a tongue lashing. The remaining documents need to be placed in the correct order below the I485.

We also provided pictures of the marriage and extended family. They did look at the pictures but I'm not sure if the pictures added value.

Cheers

Justice,

Read the I-485 instructions to know for whom a G-325A is required.

I-765 is, as the information that you quoted says, optional.

1. Be sure to take a Money Order or a Cahsiers check for payment. On my first trip to the USCIS office for the DORA I made the mistake of taking a personal check because I was unsure of the amount to pay. I was refused and we had to reschedule for a later date which cost me a 3 week delay.

2. We had our DORA interview on Oct 27. The processing officer told us that their goal is to have 60% of the applications processed in 90 days. He would not elaborate on how well they were meeting the 60% goal. We went for the fingerprinting on Nov 24th and we are currently in a waiting pattern.

3. Good luck!!!
