Montreal interview

Does anyone know how far in advance the medical has to be scheduled before the interview. The reason I am asking is my wife lives in the Saskatoon area and presumably I will meet her in Montreal for her interview, but we want to limit our time there and want to kill both the medical and interview within a few days for time and money reasons?

thanks in advance

if you do the medical in Montreal they need 3 business days after the medical date to return the packet to you. (This is from Medisys... I had my medical there.) So if you do the medical on Tuesday, you'll get the medical results back on Friday.

Plan it so that way you have them back before the interview. It's good to give yourself a day of leeway too, I was freaking out on Friday evening waiting for my results because of my interview Monday morning. I wish I'd booked the medical on Monday and given it an extra day.

Double check the flights too. It would have been cheaper to fly in and out of Montreal twice for the amount the hotel cost me for 8 days. (I flew home the day of the interview.)

nlr,

thanks so much for that advice wow what a hassle. I cant beleive they dont have other medical options. I am the us citizen and actually went through the process to immigrate to Canada before my wife and I decided to move to the US. I had many more options and cities for medical providers than she does going the other way.

Yes there is a great deal more options, despite it being a longer process, for moving to Canada. Even if you count the number of jobs available once you get there. We seriously looked into my husband moving to Canada and it was only his career job that ended up swaying the scales in the direction we chose.

You can do a medical near Vancouver in Surrey, or near Toronto, or the Medisys in Montreal. I found Medisys to be professional and easy from booking the appointment to the finish. There was no "check under your gown to see if you're a boy or girl" and everything was quick and straight forward. I was able to see bunches of Montreal in the downtown area because of my stay. The hotel room I chose was small but clean and close to the bus. It's really a good idea to take the bus from the airport to the closest stop to your hotel downtown. You pay $9 vs $40 (flat rate) for a cab and it's the exact same time for the ride (about 40 mins.)

You'd have to contact the other doctors to see how long it takes to get the medical results back. I know what a pain it was because I was going from Central Alberta.

Family physicians in Canada are busy as it is, so not a huge incentive for them to be part of the program.

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

There have been a few reviews on it.. If you search out medisys on the forum you're sure to find it.. One was VERY recently done. I can see if I can find mine as well.
