My husband arrived in America on October 11, 2013. We are doing great. He received his 10 year Green Card within 4 weeks, but it has now been over 7 weeks and still no social security card. Is this normal? Anyone else waiting for their social security that arrived around the same date.

Even though my husband ticked the box to get his card mailed on his ds260 we still went to the ss office to apply when he didn't receive it after 2 weeks, you should too. So glad things are doing great, you had a long journey!

Even when checking the box to automatically receive a social security number on an immigrant visa, it seems you only have a 50-50 shot of actually receiving it.

Since it's been so long then you should go to your nearest SSA office and have them look into it for you.

Thank you for your replies. We went to the Social Security office about three weeks ago and they said we needed to wait another ten days. I guess we need to go back again.

CITIZENSHIP: 

Biometrics appointment for 2020-03-27 has been cancelled until further notice as all field offices are closed because of COVID-19.

***NOA dated 12/10/2020 USCIS stated they are able to reuse previous Biometrics***

Interview was easy. My hubby's Oath Ceremony is scheduled for February 25th. I can't watch >sad< but happy he is getting his certificate!

90% of the time you have to go to the SSA office to get it, 2-3 weeks after POE. There is a guide by user Darnell (advance search SSN and user Darnell) on how to go about this.
