Don't rush into a marriage just to get out of Portugal. You do have free movement in the EU, check things out, visit your bf some more, make a good decision when the time is right. good.gif

Unfortunately the situation where my country is in right now, is the same in all EU. Some worse than others.

I would love to be with my partner because he's the one that makes me forget about everything bad that is happening around me. I love him truly and he loves me truly too and we want to be together. This is the main reason that motivates me to actually change all my life and move to the US to persue a happier and healthier life and actually get a job, regardless of the position.

Pardon my french now but heck, I don't f* care if I get a job to clean trash somewhere, I'm willing to work and get payed. If I have to start somewhere I will proudly start from the bottom.

You should talk to your partner. Marriage-based visas are serious undertakings both in terms of time, money and commitment. If you want to go for it, it's definitely a doable path, but it can be a strain for many. Talk it over, research and read, think a lot.

Will certainly do it.

If anything else comes up to my mind I will keep this post updated because I know more questions will come up.

Many thanks for your help, and all the others who answered as well.

Thank you for providing me answer to possibly change my life for good.

PS: I'm more than willing to go for it because my life cannot go worse than what it is right now.

EB3 is taking about 2 years or so and of course you need an Employer will to sponsor you and incur the costs.

On a more practical perspective the US job market is pretty similar to the EU, slightly better in some areas, worse in others.

As far as I was told, graphic designers are always being searched. If this is true, I might be lucky in getting something graphic design related.

I had a few job offers while I was under the VWP but I denied them because I didn't want to break the rules of my VWP. That makes me feel hopeful that I might get something but still, I don't mind going to a groceries store and clean the storage house or something similar. I simply want a new beginning for me even that meaning starting from the bottom.

Were they prepared to sponsor?
