I am in the UK, and wanting to file for visa to join my wife in USA. She is a USC. I am worried that my police record will stop me from being able to get back.

I have a few police convictions from before age of 17, this was 17 years ago now. Altho i have had two drink driving charges since.

Has anyone got an idea if this will stop my visa. I have never been to prison.

Thanks for your time.

Hi-

I wish I could help you more, but I am not well informed. Best advice is to go on the waiver's forum and do some reading. If you can't find what you're looking for-post the question. I am sure you will find someone who knows...

Best of Luck !

The Mrs. is right :)

Bone up on the waiver page, maybe seek out zyggy - he's a good source of info and prepare for a waiver. I'm guessing you'll be required to have one. The good news is London has an excellent track record of approving waivers. BUT it depends on the crime too - Mary and Tom are good ones to seek out for the bad news. His conviction ended up getting him barred. :(

Best of luck, Joey

And so he did what countless punk-rock songs had told him to do so many times before: he lived his life

10/07/2006 WEDDING DAY!

11/14/2006 AOS packet made it to 'the box' after being overnighted.

12/02/2006 Paul had biometrics

12/14/2006 AOS Forwarded to CSC AND AP Application approved.

01/17/2007 First touch of 2007 at CSC

01/20/2007 Touched AGAIN (also the 18th) come on...

February: Oops, RFE for a REGISTERED marriage certificate. Oops! Overnighted it.

02/28/2007 Paul gets email letting us know his GREENCARD is on it's way! It's done...for now!

03/09/2007 Paul's greencard arrives. And breathe...

We began with mailing the I-129 in on February 27, 2006 so the whole process took us approx. one year.

Good luck out there!

definitely check out the waiver forum, we are currently waiting for my hubby's to be case complete (we are both UKC' going through our daughter who is a USC) it would appear that if you have convictions prior to the age of 17 and more after it, you will be required to file a waiver. This is what happened to us and my hubby's last conviction was over 28 years ago and someone else has recently had the same thing happen to them. Good luck
