Hello everybody, this is my first topic so I hope to be doing it right (correct place).

I'm filling out DS-230 Form and gathering cilvil documents but I have a couple of questions, so here I go:

1) In box '7. Nationality (If dual, give both)'

I have dual, I borne in Argentina but I also have Italian nationality that I get many years ago, so I fill it like this: Argentine and Italian. Is that correct?

2) Cilvil Documents: Photocopy of Valid Passport Biographic Data Page

Since I have dual nationality and I have two valid passports, should I send photocopies of both of them? or just the one where I intend to have the visa?

3) I read in the LingChe NVC Wiki the following: Photocopy Requirement - In addition to sending the original documents or certified copies of the documents to the NVC, the applicant and each accompanying family member must submit a photocopy of the original documents or certified copies of the documents.

This 'Photocopy Requirement' is kind of confusing. What does this mean? I'm sending certified copies of all required documents with corresponding translations. Do I need to photocopy all again and send two copies of everything in the same package?

4) I read that some people recommend to write the case number to every single paper you send, so if NVC agent misplace something, could be tracked to your case easily. What do you think about this? Should I do this?

5) I also heard that many people recommend not to staple documents. The thing is that the documents should be staple because of their translations. The collage of translators that certify that the person who translate the documents is an official translator staple each document with the translation and the collage certification.

Should I remove the staple? or I just leave it as it is and don't worry about it?

6) Any recommendation about type of folder? I was thinking to do the same that with the I-130 package, use one of this files folder with transparent sheet protectors and put a set of documents in separate sheets. i.e.: One sheet with marriage license and translations staple together, other sheet with birth certificate and translation staple together, and so on... What do you think? Is a good idea?

7) I choose my agent to be my wife (petitioner) using an online form and I get email notifying the success of that submission. Should I anyhow submit DS-3032 Form?

This is also mentioned in LingChe NVC Wiki and it make me confuse.

So far this are all doubts I have. I really hope you can help me with this, I'm very exited to send everything right away!!!

Thanks so much for your support and this wonderful forum.

Best,

Pablo

Thanks for your answer dwheels76.

When the DS-230 was replaced by DS-260?

Does this apply to everybody, no matter in which consulate the immigrant visa applicant will be interviewed?

I start the conventional processing because according to what it says here, it was supposed I should do so.

There you can read the following (the consulate where I'll be applying is not listed there):

See the chart below which lists the Embassies/Consulates where immigrant visa applicants will be interviewed, which are using Electronic Processing.

If you will be applying for an immigrant visa at any U.S. Embassy or Consulate not listed below, then paperless Electronic Processing will not involve you.

Click here for further conventional processing instructions.

Click on the Embassy/Consulate name for further instructions:

Aren't you at NVC now. It's required yes of everyone. Your country isn't EP (Electronic processing so what you posted isn't pertaining to you). Just the two forms are online for everyone at every consulate. Many Consulate/embassy websites have not been updated.

See EP they submit everything via email all documents everything they email in. All the rest of us do (the countries not listed) is complete the forms. This started as of September 1st.

You are at NVC right? Have you paid your fees yet? If so you should see your DS-261 and DS-260 oinline to fill out.

Just ready the NVC filers thread and get caught up. Don't know where you are in the process.

I paid AOS and IV fees and my wife completed the DS-261 form a couple of weeks ago. Yesterday I find how to access the DS-260 thanks to you dwheels76, and I'm able to start filling it. So thank you very much for that advise, it arrive just in time! good.gif

Anyhow I still have to submit the IV package, just without the DS-230. So my questions from 2 to 6 are valid since they are regarding the Civil Documents and not the DS-230 form.

Here are the questions regarding Civil Documents:

Hope this helps. And you are welcome.

2) Cilvil Documents: Photocopy of Valid Passport Biographic Data Page

Since I have dual nationality and I have two valid passports, should I send photocopies of both of them? or just the one where I intend to have the visa?

Well not sure but why not send both. Wouldn't hurt.

3) I read in the LingChe NVC Wiki the following: Photocopy Requirement - In addition to sending the original documents or certified copies of the documents to the NVC, the applicant and each accompanying family member must submit a photocopy of the original documents or certified copies of the documents.

The photocopies are not required its so at interview they give you back the originals. You could also have photcopies at interview to give to them and they give you back originals.

4) I read that some people recommend to write the case number to every single paper you send, so if NVC agent misplace something, could be tracked to your case easily. What do you think about this? Should I do this?

Yes you should write it on all sheets of paper (I have added extra evidence 1245 pages but I had ordered a rubber stamp with our case# on it and yes I stamped every page. Phew.

Never ever staple. Well you could keep the staple they will remove I mean its nit a deal breaker. But if you can Paperclip everything

Folders would be a waste its tossed. Just clip together and have your coverletter (if you choose to do one. And the bar-coded cover sheet from the payment portal.
