Saylin...I was reading the questions on the front page. I paid my $88 AOS fee and sent the documents they received them yesterday. I paid the $230 IV bill and it's cleared my bank but still shows In Process on CEAC....It's not allowing me to fill out the DS260 yet...is this normal? I guess I won't be able to fill it out until it shows paid??

Has to show as PAID before it's available. Should be sometime this week...

HI vj family .thank you every1 for such informative advices and thank you SAYLIN FOR YOUR GREAT EFFORT.

I was approved (i-130)on nov18 no news till now from NVC (btw i didnt make no call ).

i realy want to be ready for NVC and avoid ANY checklist .

my situation is :my petitioner did not field taxes for 2013-2012-2011 as she was unemployed as well she is studying but she did before these dates just this month she get a job (not enough income too).for those years she claim her self as depedent on her sister taxes who file with her husband,in their taxes they make well over the poverty guideline .specificly her husband who work within a company but he dont have pay stub .

-we have a joint sponcer who rule his own buisness(self-employed)he didnt made enough in his last years to cover the povertyline but his estimated for this year he can .so he will file around january2014.

well my questions are :

1-what kind of taxes forms we should provide im confused ..,?

2-saying we delay the AOS package till the joint sponcer(self-employed)file his new 2013 taxes when he can get his new taxes forms and which poverty guideline we go with if it increase next year?

3-in case we considere the joint sponcer(self-empoyed) should he just count me in his household size ?

4-my wife live with her sister and her husband so what forms the husband file in case (i-864 or i-864a)..?

....we trying to see all options to make a solid AOS package ..plz any clarification is appreciated .

SAYLIN your suggestions are so appreciated .

THANKS again and wich every1 a smooth journey too .

1 - both the petitioner and the joint sponsor need to sign a completed I-864

2 - You can certainly delay the I-864 for up to one year.

3 - The joint sponsor must count the beneficiary when determining household size and if they meet the poverty guidelines no matter who you use (self employed person or sister and husband) In the case of the sister and husband they must also count the petitioner as she is a dependent on their tax return.

4 - if you are using the sister and her husband as the Joint sponsors you do not need to wait to file. Whomever makes more money in their family would sign a completed I-864 and whomever makes less would do the I-864a (if they file jointly) This makes it easier.

If you haven't started calling NVC yet, I would highly suggest it.

1. Tax transcripts are always preferred at NVC (over tax returns and W2s). You can get these for free from the IRS and typically arrive within 1-2 weeks.

2. I'm not exactly sure what you're asking. If the poverty guidelines go up next year, then you have to follow those. You can't just follow whatever guidelines you want. But, the poverty guidelines don't change much each year, usually just by a few hundred or thousand.

3. Yes, the joint sponsor has to include you in the household size as he's sponsoring you.

4. This depends. Are they going to be joint sponsors as well as the other one you have? If so, it depends if you want both (not needed). The main joint sponsor will fill an I-864 and if the spouse files as well, then it'd be an I-864A. So, the following forms would then be filed:

Petitioner: I-864

Main joint sponsor: I-864

Second main joint sponsor: I-864

Second main joint sponsor's spouse: I-864A

The last two may be optional though if the first main joint sponsor makes enough for the household size.

My expedite (medical) at NVC got approved. I did fill the DS-261 and paid the AOS fees (still under process, not showing PAID yet.) I haven't send the AOS forms or paid IV fees or submit DS-260.

The email was "

This file will be immediately forwarded to the U.S. Embassy/Consulate General. Any further questions concerning processing or the interview appointment date should be directed to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate General. Please note that the U.S. Embassy or Consulate General may still request additional forms or fees at the time of your interview. Please be prepared to submit any missing forms and pay any required fees at the time of your interview.

Should I send the AOS packet? My consulate in Frankfurt. What happens to IV fees and DS-260?

No, don't send the AOS package. By the time it would get to NVC, your package will likely already be on its way to the consulate/embassy. Keep the AOS package for now. You'll likely need to bring it to the interview, along with the IV package. I'd suggest contacting DOS next week to see if the case has arrived in Frankfurt. Once they've confirmed they have it, then contact Frankfurt and ask for the next steps. They'll tell you exactly what you need to do with the packages and IV fee.

Hi folks! I'm so glad that I came across this forum. You guys are all great!

Just wondering if anyone has requested to opt in Electronic Processing lately? I've sent my optin email November 20th and so far haven't received any confirmation email from NVC for the new EP case number. It seems kinda slow compared to other members on this forum. I called NVC the representatives told me there's no time frame for EP request.

NVC has just taken the AOS fee from my bank account. I'm confused as whether to send the AOS package in plain mail or wait for EP to complete and send AOS in email?

Advice is more than welcome! Thanks in advance!

Hi Everyone!

We'll be having our interview out of Montreal and have opted in for Electronic Processing.

I sent my OPTIN email about 2 weeks ago to NVCElectronic@state.gov.

Still no response from them (except the auto response) ...

Is this normal? I'm thinking we should have gotten some type of confirmation by now.

Just curious about other people's experience with OPTIN emails.

At this point all of our information is compiled/forms completed. We're just waiting to be accepted for Electronic Processing. ClockWatch2.gif

It seems we requested EP on the same day.

I too haven't heard back and was told the exact same thing from NVC.

I sent a second OPTIN email just to be safe.

I even sent the AOS package last week but was told that when I get my OPTIN acceptance I'll need to re-send.

Seems incredibly slow compared to other people's experiences with EP ...

Exactly! From your signature I see that your IV fee has been paid as well. Did you get any mail/email as instructions for what's next?

I don't know if I should pay my IV fee as well.

I don't know if I should pay my IV fee as well.

We received instructions on the AOS fee and to fill out the DS-261.

Also received instructions to pay the IV Fee.

No instruction on what to do next but we filled out the DS-260 once it was available as well.

I sent a second OPTIN email today. The operator I spoke with said it couldn't hurt.

Last month, when I was opting in for Montreal EP. My wife sent an email to opt-in from her account and received a response from NVC almost right away, however, when I sent it, I did not receive a response until 10-14 days after. I don't know what the deal is or why it takes so long. Make sure you send opt-in e-mails from both, petitioner and beneficiarys emails.
