Checking in...honestly this is more stressful than the USCIS process!

At least some of you guys statuses have updated on the USCIS website, stating that they mailed it to the NVC, mine is still stuck on:

On November 13, 2013, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I130 IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN. Please follow any instructions on the notice. If you move before you receive the notice, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283.

Hi,

Actually I learned that CSC doesn't update their system when they send the package to the NVC (I think only TSC and VSC do?). If you have been approved, call the NVC people and get your case number, it should have long been generated.

Guys another quick question

Can a Joint sponsor, sponsor two immigrants? In our case, he sponsored my wife and we need him to sponsor my sisters husband as well. On the I-864 on part 5, number 6, it says that he should add anyone that he has sponsored and now is a permanent resident, but my wife's paper work is still in the process (Just sent the AOS today). So would he write 1 their or 0 (because she technically isn't a permanent resident)?

Thank you again for the help VJ'ers! Don't know what I would do without it :)

No problem man! Oh when you call the NVC (get ready for a hold), you have to give them your USCIS case number for them to pull it up. Ask them for the NVC Case Number, Invoice ID Number, and the Beneficiary ID Number.

Happy New Years to you too!

Yes, so long as the sponsor earns enough to meet the requirement. If he can support you and whoever else and is above that % above poverty line - he can go ahead and sponsor.

AP Before Interview. My wife's application was expedited at NVC and we sent the documents to Frankfurt consulate. She is doing research in biology and in the past for a visiting visa, she was put on AP. Now during DS-260, there was a question about biology skills. I knew an AP is in store, and so we sent a CV along with civil documents. Today, the ceac status says AP. We don't know if an interview date has been assigned. Is it typical for AP before interview?

Sorry to hear about this situation. Check this thread, someone shared their own experience and some details that maybe worth reading for you

it's not normal for the average joe blow, but it's regular if someone works in a biological type field. It's better to do the AP before the interview than after don't you think? So they're doing their extra background checks before the interview so that when she's approved she's over and done.

You'll have to amend your taxes and file married filing separately.

But taxes were filed for year 2012. And I was not married then but I filed it in February 2013 after I got married. So do I still needed to file as married filing separately?

no.. if you married in 2013 then your 2012 taxes should say single. Your 2013 taxes will be married.

Your taxes are not based off of when you file but rather it's based off of the fiscal year Jan 1 - Dec 31.
