I received my approval on Dec 23, 2013. Today I got an email from USCIS saying, On December 30, 2013, we shipped this approved or re-affirmed case to the Department of State for visa processing. For more information, please contact them directly.

Does it reach NVC 2 weeks from the approval date or the shipped date?

For other users, what are your experiences after receiving such notices?

Thanks in advance!

offtopic45vn.gif I just thought that I would post here to brighten everyone's day. I called the NVC this morning and an amazing thing happened. I wasn't on hold....AT ALL! I couldn't believe it; that stupid "individual attention given to every caller" message didn't even have a chance to come on. They must be in a good mood for the holidays. (But then I became annoyed because they never updated my address from 7 months ago; way to screw up my happiness.)Off-Topic2.gif

NVC is giving me trouble in every step. They are claiming that they have not received my marriage certificate in the Civil Document package or it didn't have the right seal/stamp. Funny right! I wonder how incompetent their contractors/employees are. I have the proof that I sent the marriage certificate in the Civil Document package. They received everything just not see the original marriage certificate in the package? They just misplaced it somewhere or the person who opened my package was blind. They gave me a similar issue with my AOS form saying that I didn't use the correct I-864 form. After reviewing they corrected it.

Does any one know the contact info for the higher managements (Director or Manager) in NVC ? I am looking to send a fax to them. I have already contacted my senator but there has been no update from them either.

Help will be appreciated.

Saylin & NLR,

Thanks guys! Since you both went through MTL, I was wondering if there are any links you can share with me for the next steps after getting my case complete & interview date email (p4)? I know I have to sign up for Loomis but I am a bit lost. I registered for the Loomis and printed out the confirmation page

I'll be looking to do my medical exam soon in Toronto. is there a certain time before we should do the medical? Or can I do it as soon as I can between now and Feb 13 (iv date)? Your advice will be appreciated. If there are any other links I should read, please do share them also.. Thanks.

There's not much to do after case complete and the interview date is scheduled. Just three things:

-sign up for Loomis (which you've done, make sure you bring the confirmation page with you to the interview as you won't be let inside without it)

-get the medical done

-prepare all documents for the interview

No time requirements for the interview. But I'd suggest you get the medical done as soon as possible, just to get it out of the way (and in case, for whatever reason, there are delays).

There's a couple links at the bottom of the first post about post-NVC stuff, but it's not much as there really isn't much to do except what I mentioned above.

Saylin, regarding the taxes can someone claim any child born out of wedlock as a dependent and baby's mother as well??

Sorry, I don't know taxes very well (just that you have to file married [and not single] if you're married) no0pb.gif

My husband had a child born out of wedlock with his ex.He is not good with the taxes so he says that he goes to a spanish guy to do the taxes and this guy had added his child and his ex as dependents since he was taking care of them.Ex didnt work for two years as she was taking care of the baby. They have since separated but my husband still supports his ex with the baby's expenses.I know we have to file as married separately filing this time but what about the child?

If he provided half her support yes he can claim her. But i caution you this is a real bug red flag your husband supporting his ex. So be ready for questions at interview that may come up about this. It may happen it may not.

Don't know your embassy. But trust me i have seen ex-husbands and ex-wives brought up in interviews many a times and people denied because the CO said they felt they still loved their ex and such. So be warned. It is a red flag and well not normal either.

Hi guys,

I seem to have to run into a problem..on the I-864, where it asks if you have any dependent children, I have a daughter but she was born overseas and is with my wife (but through CRBA, she has her US Passport, she was born this year). I don't file taxes, my parents claim me. I put on the I-864 that I do claim her, but again I don't file taxes.

Do you guys think this will cause any issues?

Keep calling the NVC, and when you get your case number they will ask you for email address for the petitioner and beneficiary. After you get your NOA-2, it takes upto 4-5 weeks to get your NVC case number.

You can keep calling them and checking the status with your USCIS case number.

Then I guess its better for him not to mention supporting his child & ex gf.so we we'll be filing as married filing separately. Never thought that this might come as a red flag.

Its Indian embassy but i am not an Indian national.

She doesn't HAVE to, but she can if you wish. It'll just be more paperwork.

You need to CALL them to find out anything. Otherwise, they'll send the initial information package by snail mail which can take weeks or months to receive.

Congrats!!

I give you a star_smile.gif for being prepared!!

Did you call them on Friday though? If you haven't called since last Thursday, then you can't really be sure when your case was complete. It could have been after you called on Thursday or any time on Friday, not necessarily today (unless the operator specifically said your case was complete TODAY).

But regardless, grats on the fast time between case complete and interview date set. I got my time over the phone as well wink.png But as NLR said, do NOT go by that time as it's first come, first serve at Montreal. If you want to be out of there within a couple of hours, show up 7am or earlier. If you want to spend the entire morning and some of the afternoon, then show up at your scheduled time

Thanks! I just don't want to spend one more minute longer than I have to without my hubby by my side!goofy.gif
