Hey sorry, one last question (hopefully)

If I have a joint sponsor, and if the joint sponsor and me have each filled out a separate I-864. Does the joint sponsor need to fill out an I-864A (he is married, him and his wife file together, but he makes enough on his own to sponsor)?

She doesn't HAVE to, but she can if you wish. It'll just be more paperwork.

my wife I-130 was approved 12/9 from the CSC office, i still didnt hear anything yet, or got anything in the mail.

anybody got approved and didnt hear anything from NVC?

You need to CALL them to find out anything. Otherwise, they'll send the initial information package by snail mail which can take weeks or months to receive.

Called NVC earlier and found out that my case is complete and interview date set for 13 Feb!

Still waiting for a confirmation e-mail from them though.

Thanks. I called them last Thursday and they said the generic "not reviewed yet, give us 30 days from the time your case is entered into the system.." line. They entered my checklist documents in the system on 12/12/13 so I knew it would be reviewed around now. I called again today and the lady on the phone said your case is completed and your interview is scheduled for 13 Feb at 10 AM (yes - she even told me the time).

Thanks dwheels. I think it has something to do with going through EP (or Canada). When my NOA2 was received, my case arrived in NVC and case # assigned on the exact same date also.

Did you call them on Friday though? If you haven't called since last Thursday, then you can't really be sure when your case was complete. It could have been after you called on Thursday or any time on Friday, not necessarily today (unless the operator specifically said your case was complete TODAY).

But regardless, grats on the fast time between case complete and interview date set. I got my time over the phone as well ;) But as NLR said, do NOT go by that time as it's first come, first serve at Montreal. If you want to be out of there within a couple of hours, show up 7am or earlier. If you want to spend the entire morning and some of the afternoon, then show up at your scheduled time.

They should be open. I believe they're only closed on New Year's Day, January 1st.

Hi Saylin,

After reading almost all the information on VJ and the DOS website, my understanding is that the petitioner's birth certificate is not needed, birth certificate [original] of applicant is needed - correct?

For IR-1/CR-1 visas, yes, that's correct. Only for IR-5 visas (parent visa) is the petitioner's birth certificate needed.
