No problem! happy.png

Hey sorry, one last question (hopefully)

If I have a joint sponsor, and if the joint sponsor and me have each filled out a separate I-864. Does the joint sponsor need to fill out an I-864A (he is married, him and his wife file together, but he makes enough on his own to sponsor)?

I recently mailed my amended 2012 tax return (changed to appropriate filing status) to the IRS....now I'm confused as to whether I will receive any correspondence form them in regards to it or how I will know it has been accepted. And if everything works out ok with it, what will I include in the I-864...the tax transcript PLUS the X form I submitted for the amend? Should I also have my husband carry the amendment to the interview? Or do I just order a new transcript and the amendment will be reflected there?

Amended tax returns generally take 1-3 months before it is processed and reflected on the transcript. You won't receive any confirmation from the IRS.

Isn't a new 1040 (page 1 and page 2) generated with the correct figures when you amend the return. Either way your income shouldn't change with just the status change (single to MFJ).

Yes you should send a copy of the amendment/transcript for the interview.

Thank you!

I am a USC, but I had an A number at one point..on the I-864, where it says country of citizenship I put USA...but it then asks for an A number..should I still include it?

You will find the A-# on your Certificate of Naturalization.

Thanks. I called them last Thursday and they said the generic "not reviewed yet, give us 30 days from the time your case is entered into the system.." line. Hey sorry, one last question (hopefully)

If I have a joint sponsor, and if the joint sponsor and me have each filled out a separate I-864. Does the joint sponsor need to fill out an I-864A (he is married, him and his wife file together, but he makes enough on his own to sponsor)?

This depends. Does he file his taxes Married Filing Jointly with his wife? Does he want to send an entire tax return including w2 and all schedules or a tax return transcript? If he'd rather just send the double sided one piece of paper for the tax transcript and he files Married Filing Jointly, then his wife should sign a completed I-864a if she works. This is because on the tax return transcript it will combine their income. However, if she doesn't work, including a copy of his w2 as well will prove she doesn't work and an I-864a isn't needed. Also remember a joint sponsor needs to prove current income so they also need to include a) proof of citizenship or LPR status and b) paystubs or employer letter showing current ongoing income or c)however else the person

Congrats on the interview date!!! Ignore the time, show up early, first come first serve at the Montreal consulate. LOL

My case arrived at NVC a good 2 weeks before I got the case number btw... You were just lucky wink.png
