So apparently, my lawyer wanted me to submit my Police Record from China (I worked there for over a year). Is this necessary though? And how to get this?? What if I can't get Police Clearance (No Criminal Record)? I left China years ago and now I am living in Indonesia. Does any of you have the same issue??

I'm from Indonesia (the beneficiary), and my husband is a USC.

USCIS

06/04/2011: Got married in Surabaya, Indonesia

03/10/2013: (Some time at these dates) Filed I-130 through a lawyer

03/25/2013: Priority date, NOA1

11/08/2013: Case was transferred to Texas Service Center

11/16/2013: Case update: "was transferred and is now being processed at a USCIS office."

11/25/2013: NOA2. Post Decision Activity: APPROVED (by Texas Service Center)

12/05/2013: Received NOA2 in the mail.

12/19/2013: "Shipped this approved or re-affirmed case to the Department of State for visa processing."

NVC

01/03/2014: NVC received our case work.

03/26/2014: Called NVC and they said that there's an error on the affidavit support and they didn't get copy of my passport. This case, I blame our lawyer.

Sorry to repeat this question but does anyone know the requirement regarding police certificates? Are they needed if an applicant lived in a foreign country for 6 months and over or 12 months and over?

The Department of State website says 12 months. The NVC rep is telling me 6 months. Should I call again? Send an email quoting the information on the DOS site?

Thank you.

Wait are u dealing with this issue now? Because I do. :( Another road bump! Ugh!! I worked in China for over a year. And my company didn't want to help with supporting documents to obtain China Police Clearance. I haven't called Chinese Embassy in my country because it's Saturday here. I'm worry what if I can't get one :(.

Am i belong on this thread..coz we just got our NOA 2 12/20/2013 from USCIS through E-mail/Texts.?

It's currently December, so yes, you're in the right month. Once January hits, everyone in this thread who is still at NVC will move to the as-of-yet-uncreated January thread.

Yes, if you were in China for more than a year, you'll need to obtain a PCC from there.

Hi, my wife is from Iran.

And I know NVC wants original copies of birth certificate and marriage certificate, but DHL (the only reliable courier in Iran) is not allowed to send such original sensitive documents. And in Iran your birth certificate is very important.

So what she did was she took it to the Foreign Ministry of Iran and they photocopied it and translated it and approval stamps from courts (or whatever they use over there) . They said that is sufficient to be considered a certified copy.

Thing is I already did this when I sent in her translations of birth certificate and marriage certificate at the USCIS stage. They were translations from the Foreign Ministry of Iran. So I am literally sending in the same thing again for the NVC.

Is this ok? Will they accept Foreign Ministry of Iran translations and stamps as evidence of it being a certified photocopy?

A certified copy is a copy made by the issuer. It cannot be a notarized copy. If what she has is from the original issuer then that is valid for the NVC. Also send a letter stating she will be bringing original to the interview. The NVC understands certain countries have different things.

http://travel.state.gov/visa/fees/fees_5455.html?cid=9217 Scroll down to the bottom and it shows what is required for an Iranian citizen and how to obtain them. She's one of the few countries not required to provide a PCC for instance.

I have a lawyer but I don't want him to do my case any more what should I do

Call the NVC ?

Yes.

My Husband is getting his police certificate does he have to have fingerprinting done or just the name check based certificate???

Unless he's been convicted of anything, he just needs the name check.

I also worked abroad for about a year, and i have to get police record from that country. I just started requesting for it a few days ago, they said it will take 4 weeks so hopefully i'll get them on time so we will not delay the process. Fingers crossed.

Saylin,

2 nights ago NVC tried to contact me but I missed the call, I tried to call them back and told me that my expedite request is approved and not to pay and submit any documents at NVC because they will forward it within 24 hrs at the embassy.

Question, since I never paid and submit anything at NVC when and where I will pay and submit it? I have all the civil documents here with me, should I sent it back to my mother so she can bring it to the interview or submit it there?

Thanks, so confuse about th diffrent process.
