I looked on the ceac web where form ds 260 was turn and the staus says everything was sent on and for any questions to contact the embassy. I think the interview came in like maybe 2 weeks ago..can't remember but about that long ago- so it should be all fine huh?

If you got the interview date about 2 weeks ago, then it should have been sent (and received) by now. Call up DOS tomorrow and explain your situation, then ask if your case has been received by the embassy. They'll be able tell you.

Hi, I am not in NVC yet but have a few doubts about the NVC process hopefully someone can clarify. I am the petitioner and my wife is in India.

1. Can the Petitioner send in the IV packet from US? Is there anything in the packet that require Beneficiary signature? Given, that I have her PCC and Birth Certificate and Marriage certificate and she complete/sign DS 260 online, I assume there is nothing else in the packet requiring my wife to send in this package, correct? I am asking because I want to avoid sending in snail mail from India to US if possible.

2. Is there any time validity requirement for the PCC (such as should it be obtained within the last x months to be valid)? I am a September filer and don’t expect to be in NVC process till March the earliest. Can my wife obtain PCC now (in December) and would that be still considered current/valid for NVC process some-time by mid-Jan 2014?

3. My wife has resided in two different states in India after the age of 16 for more than 6 months. Would she need to obtain PCC’s from each places or just one PCC from the current residence suffice?

1. Yes, the petitioner can send it in. Now that everyone's required to complete the online DS-260, no, the beneficiary doesn't need to sign anything.

2. Varies by country. You need to look into this. But, I'd suggest waiting until you get NOA2, then have her get the PCC.

3. Depends how the PCC is done in her country. For Canada, they do a country-wide check, so only one PCC is needed. But there's some places that only do state/province/region checks, so multiple PCCs have to get obtained if the beneficiary has lived across different ones.

This can be your answer, Saylin posted it in the FAQ above:

Help! I can't sign into the payment portal. Why?

If you're getting an error message ("Please be advised that the case that you have attempted to access is not eligible for further processing by the National Visa Center at this time…" or "This case is in the process of termination. Fee payments and online forms can no longer be accepted…" or "You cannot make online payments for your case at this time. Please contact the NVC if you have questions or need further information."), do NOT panic. This is actually good news! If you just got your case number, then this message means NVC is inputting your case in their system. If you get this message a few days after case number generation, then it's a good possibility that NVC is invoicing your AOS bill. And if this message appears a few days after DS-3032 acceptance, then there's a good chance the IV bill is being invoiced.

thank you very much!!! i read about that but i still confused, thats why i ask.. thank you again

Nope. She took her passport, ID proof, and she did have her NOA2 copy, but they didn't ask her for it. The letter just cleared her and said "there is no adverse information that would render her ineligible for grant of travel privileges including a visa for the United States of America".

Maybe Baroda's passport office works differently in that they need the letter from NVC. But I would personally go there and plead that waiting for the letter is not a possibility since it will delay the application by months and you will get a checklist etc etc. Make sure that agent goes there as well. He should help the case, not just raise his hands up and give up smile.png

My wife just went to the baroda office today she was told to wait for a checklist. Until that, they cant issue a PCC. Is there an offical requirment listed on any state.gov site that lists that you need to submit this that can be shown to those bone heads to NVC. FYI, i couldnt find anything but maybe i might have missed it. All my search results on google come up with either another forum or visajourney hits.

My understanding is that a checklist is generated only when NVC has not recieved a mandatory document. Has anyone not submitted a PCC and been able to get through NVC and then provided a PCC at interview time?

I'm going to be in the Phillipines for a bit soon, and I'm waiting on my case number though. I have all my documents ready to go once I get case number and bills for AOS and Part IV etc, but I'm not sure if I should mail from PI using FedEx or if I should let someone here mail for me. I always heard it's better and more reliable to mail from US address to NVC, so I didn't want to risk it, but wanted to get others' opinions as well - maybe everyone has had good experiences, or maybe some horror stories. Just want to be sure before I take all my documents with me on vacation, or leave them here with friend/family/etc. Any suggestions? Thanks.

he have a money in the bank, his retirement fee every month... so what he needs? do he need also the w2?

If he's going to qualify on assets, he'll need 3 times the poverty guidelines amount and need to show bank statements of that amount in his bank account.

If he's got some income coming in (from retirement), then he'll need proof of that. I'm guessing bank statements (unless the retirement funds have some kind of statements [i have absolutely no idea how retirement works]).

He'll basically need to show proof of his savings/income through statements.

Hi Saylin,

2- As far as the civil documents needed for my father (the benificiary) is a marriage certificatestill required since he is a parent not a spouse?

1. You can send it however you want. There's never been a restriction on what courier to use.

2. If this is an IR-5 case, then no a marriage certificate isn't required (unless he's married, which yes, you need to send it in).

Don't forget petitioner documents are needed in IR-5 cases: http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3195.html#petitioner_documents

My wife just went to the baroda office today she was told to wait for a checklist. Until that, they cant issue a PCC. If they require a checklist, you'll have to submit the IV package without the PCC. Once NVC reviews it, they'll issue a checklist asking for the PCC (along with anything else wrong/missing, if applicable). You can then use that checklist to get the PCC.

You can try asking for NVC to complete the case without the PCC, promising to bring it to the interview. It's worked before in the past, but it's not 100% guaranteed though.

I'm going to be in the Phillipines for a bit soon, and I'm waiting on my case number though. Well, it'd be a lot faster (and likely safer) to send the packages from within the US. But, you'll need to make sure the forms are PERFECT before leaving. Plus, you'll really need to trust the people you're leaving the packages with.

hey saylin, please help me, we are now in the stage on nvc we will pay by monday our aos, my question is: what is the evidence that my husband will support me enough,he is retired since 2009, and he is not working.. is he need to send together with the aos the bank of statement?

In order to show retirement income he can contact whoever he is receiving the retirement or pension payments from and they will send him a statement that shows how much money he gets and how often. Also, his taxes will also show the amount of income he has had in the past years.

If it is through Social Security (SSI, SSD) then he can go to the local office and request a statement. Social security sends out a letter each year letting people know what their payments will be for the upcoming year. Generally those are mailed out in November for the upcoming year and show the gross amount of the benefit as well as any deductions he may have for things like medical. He can request one at anytime and there is no fee.

As Saylin answered - if he does not have income, then he would qualify based on his assets. He can use his statements or get statements from the bank showing all of his accounts.

Also, if he is filing taxes it would back up that he can support you because if he has enough $$ in the bank to qualify for AOS then he would also potentially be filing taxes on the income he generates from interest on his assets.
