US citizen is unemployed but wants to sponsor GC for husband

I’m a US citizen sponsoring my husband for a green card. He’s a Japanese citizen living here under a J1 visa. He has a good job. I’m currently between jobs (i.e. unemployed). We’re worried that our application will be rejected because, as of this moment, I can’t support us both financially. He has a good job (and is currently supporting both of us). Is there a likelihood that our application will be rejected because of my employment status? I realize that the US government prefers the sponsoring citizen make a certain minimum annual income. They do not want people coming here and being homeless/living on government assistance. But that’s not the case with us. He’s been consistently employed and paid well.

Because your husband lives here and has good employment he just might be able to self-sponsor himself. he is already supporting you both. And I am sure you been filing jointly so you can show Tax transcripts. I would also get your paperwork together and have what you get on unemployment. Even though I have seen some approved on unemployment you know every year its a hit and miss if emergency unemployment continues and all that after your regular is exhausted.

So again check into self-sponsor. It could very well be approved. How long has your husband worked in US? Does he have 3 years of filing taxes here?

Also Plan B, Do you have assets? Money in bank, house property? That's an option also.
