GC EAD Eliminates Previous Visa?

Hello Friends,

If I have a EAD for greencard, do I still have to maintain my previous F-1 visa until I get the greencard? Can I temporarily quit the college?

Since I have the EAD now, I can also travel outside the US, right?

Please let me know if you have any ideas about this.

I will be grateful!

You may be a little confused about the various cards.

I-765 = EAD = Employment Authorization Document (for a job)

I-131 = AP = Advance Parole (travel document)

I-551 = GC = "Green Card" for Permanent Residents

You can easily Google the various form numbers for more details on each of the cards, or guides6ly.gif.

Good luck on your immigration journey.

Thanks for the answer. But, I mainly wanted to know if I can quit the college for some time since I have a EAD now. It is hard to support the family while being at the college. College and work to support the family is really making me tiresome and making me unhealthy.

I am always grateful to people for sharing their ideas.

Yes you can quit school. The only drawback if you do that in case the AOS gets denied, you have to pack up and go back home. If you maintained your F1 visa status however, if AOS fails, you can still on your F1 visa and finish up school. I hope this helps. Good luck!

Thank you. Your opinions really makes sense. Unfortunately, I guess I will have to suffer for some time continuing the school while making sure to take care of the family.
