i would pay an annual fee of $5 IF i knew the content of the site beforehand - like a trial subscription to get me hooked. i rarely pay for anything sight unseen. $5 is nothing compared to the information available. although many may shy away many members which would detract from the information shared

AFAIK, due to legal issues, VJ can neither accept donations nor charge a fee.

Can we donate to eWok's House of Wookies instead? Or some other entity which has nothing to do with VJ? :innocent:

I suggest Addie_goodvibes entity we kindly accept donations

I would now. But to drop $5 in a kitty before knowing the content of the site? I would have moved on somewhere else.

VJ is vital to me and mine getting through this ordeal correctly the *first* time. Yes, I would pay for a subscription (5 bucks, even in USD, is pretty cheap for what I would get). However, I would eventually drift away when I no longer required VJ's services---what's that about 6 or 7 years to get to the very end from the very beginning?

If I knew how much info there is here I would, but if I was looking for info and stumbled across VJ and said I needed to pay to use it, then I wouldn't without knowing how much goodies it has.

At first glance I do not think people would pay anything to view VJ. There are other options on the internet that give information free. The problem with the other web sites is that you do not necessarily get someone who has done that and worn the tee shirt. The wealth of information that is available from good people who take time out to tell us what they have learned or experienced is worth a million bucks

I'd much rather have the option to donate.

Yeah, that would be nice. :)

AFAIK, due to legal issues, VJ can neither accept donations nor charge a fee.

Maybe others will remember too, that there was a time in the past that VJ did accept donations.

If I had to pay a one time $5 fee to be able to join and post, I would. But the topics and posts would have to be able to be shown before someone had to make that decision. So the $5 would allow them to participate instead of just reading(which should be free).

Knowing what I know now, I would pay... but it would have to be free long enough to hook people :) Also, I think the spirit of this site is such that the posts should be free to read.

Edited: and with that post I just became a Platinum Member, heehee :)

When I was first looking for information on the visa process, I probably wouldn't have paid to join a site like this. The fact that it was free was one of the major drawing points. Now that I've been here a while and seen the good information offered, I wouldn't have a problem with it, but it is going to turn off first-timers or people who just have a few minor questions.
