Ok cool, i wasn't aware i could do option 1! I'll call a couple of civil surgeons on Monday and see what price etc its going to be, i presume they will know what to do and what i need?

I was also thinking, if the NVC have just scheduled my interview today and its 5 weeks away, by the time London gets my paperwork it'll be say 10th Decor so, if i then re schedule the interview online and it takes 5 weeks it'll be mid Jan for the date which wouldn't be bad at all and i could stick to my original plan of flying back on the 9th! Will see what they say Monday.

Yup.

In fact, you could do the medical exam AFTER the interview, telling the CO that you were out of the country right prior, and could not make the arrangements to get the medical done.

or you could cheat, seeing a Civil Surgeon in the USA, and getting the medical exam done in the USA. It'll be weird for a USA Civil Surgeon, as it won't be forms they're used to filling out. Similar, but not the same.

So after sleeping on this for a night, I'm still up in the air about what to do.

Darnell, you mentioned that the forms the US surgeon would do would be different, where would these forms come from ? would the surgeon or myself need to download them ? as looking around online it seems normally the US surgeons fill in an I-693 which looks a little more detailed than what people have done in the UK ?

I think you are chasing impracticalities. Change your interview with the contact form. Enjoy your planned holiday. Go home as originally scheduled. Wait until you have a visa in hand to book a return to the US. What is your problem with that? Why all the complicated schemes to worry over?

To be honest Nich Nick the only thing that put me off re scheduling was the writing on the Embassy's website saying it could be several months before a new interview date!

Can i (and when can i ) change it online with the contact form ? it does says on the website i have to write in!?

I will take your advise as i and others have :)

ya, if you think about a reschedule within a week or within the same month,

don't count on that,

as your place in the queue is gonna reset to the end. That can be a full month (at minimum) or two or three months after.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Yeah, well they are using scare tactics to keep people from frivolously changing appointments. People do change appointments with London and they do not go to the end of the line. The contact form is writing in.

Contact form. http://london.usembassy.gov/niv/visa_contact_form.html

Use the box to say --

I will be out of the country until [date] and will not be able to interview as currently scheduled. Please may I request an appointment the week of Jan 20-25 if possible. Please confirm by email. I apologize for the inconvenience.

Just ask for what you want. It doesn't hurt to try. You wouldn't be the first, second, or tenth who was given what they asked for.

London might know of it on Monday wink.png

But they are 'active' once they receive the casefile from NVC.

They know. NVC and embassy are all tied together under the Dept of State. The sooner you request, the better. It can take them a week to get back to you, depending on the reason for contact, but hopefully quickly so you know.

I see you made your decision, I think you probably made the right choice ;) I was in the same position as you 4 years ago: was in the US when I was told I had an interview on January 5th. They told me this a little later though, 11th December, there were hardly any flights left at all. I rescheduled. They gave me February 14th. But by the time I was able to successfully contact them (long story, but they did not have the website rescheduling form back them) it was the end of December. So a whole month after you made your request!

So after 11 days of not hearing back from the London Embassy about my request to re schedule my interview by filling in their "contact us" form, i called the Dept of State this morning to be told the date they have on their system is the 27th Jan 2014, yay:) i guess London just didn't let me know.

I actually asked for week commencing the 27th an too. Have just booked my medical for the 13th and the train down to London and back the same day for £32 return:)

Thanks again to everyone that's helped me, appreciate it.
