Democrat leader Abhisit Vejjajiva on Friday joined a march of thousands of protesters who met in the Asoke area before heading to the US Embassy and Pheu Thai Party headquarters.

Posting a photo of himself riding on Skytrain on his Facebook page, Abhisit said, "See you in Asoke."

The march, which joined by thousands of people blowing whistles and waving national flags, started about 11am from Asoke skytrain. They then marched to the US Embassy on Wireless road.

The march was led by Abhisit and Democrat MP Korn Chatikavanij.

The protesters waved placards, some of them reading "stop serving Thaksin regime," and "Get Out, Thaksin's servants."

People along the road took their photos, blew the whistles and waved the national flag.

At the US embassy, protest representatives submitted a note to the US government, asking it to support them and stop supporting the ruling government of Yingluck Shinawatra.

They arrived at the Pheu Thai party headquarters about noon.

All the fighting is near where my Wife is, and makes her worry. She says she can hear loud bangs, and what sounds like explosions and bombs going off very close to her work. People fighting on the buses, and in the streets. She sounds scared, and angry at all the fighting. She also called me on a separate occasion saying that embassies were closed down, and she was worried that all this might affect her coming back when her CR-1 is processed. She has always told me how wonderful Thailand was, but I'm starting to want her to get the hell out of there as soon as possible and back to me where it's safe, and not only because I have been away from her since July 1st, but because all the stuff going on there is making me worry every day.
