Filipina Name Change?

I'm sure this has probably been discussed before, but I can't find an answer. My fiancee has been here for about a week and we are going to Social Security next week, then get marriage certificate and get married. As you may know, filipina's drop the middle name and move their last name to be the middle name and her new last name will be my surname. How/Where do we make sure it happens that way instead of the "American" way when just the last name changes?

We did it immediately after our marriage (of course), all documents we completed from that date forth were done in my wife's married (traditional) name.

Whatever you put on your marriage application will be her legal and true name (they don't care what it is) --- all documents after this MUST match exactly.

We did the same as what you explained here.

With some states they do not do the "married name" on the marriage certificate.

yes, thats the case with us. Nowhere on the marriage application does it ask for "married name". So idk what to do.

My wife simply started using her married name (traditional) on everything showing a copy of our marriage certificate when asked . We went to SSA right after getting married and she got her card in her married name, no issues. Then she started AOS, got her driver's permit and so on...

Well, we had an idiot at my wife's naturalization interview who insisted that she could not use her Philippines married name even though it is the name she used since we got married in the Philippines. It is the name in her passport, was the name on her green card, same name in all things since we got married in the Philippines in 2008.

He said she had to use her maiden name middle name. I was allowed in the room with her for the interview and kept asking a lot of questions about that, and pointing out the facts to the IO. He insisted she had to sign everything for naturalization in her maiden middle name, otherwise take longer and go to court to change it back. The idiot....

45 minutes later she came to us in the waiting room and said he saw the looks on our faces and she could use her REAL name...didnt have to use the FAKE name he chose for her. Idiot....

I think he realized he could be mistaken after I questioned his decision a lot and asked his supervisor about it and got all straightened out. He just told us a lie to cover up his mistake. In the end she was allowed to keep her real name. That idiot...

We have to wait for her greencard renewel and change her passport name.

Even though the marriage license and her ID's have her married name.

SSN said it has to match the Green Card and the Passport matches the Green Card, because she got her passport before we got married. CA DMV had to use her unmarried name because it had to match her green card which had to match her passport. GRRRRRR

Did she get her green card in her married name?

The name on the green card and the passport do not have to match, every K-1 that goes through the process has a mismatch of names there.

With my wife her green card was her married name and her passport was her maiden name until almost a year later when we submitted the report of marriage and renewed her passport in her married name.

Green card came in her unmarried name, which matched her passport. We were married in the Philippines.

We do want to change her passport to her married name, We can do that in San Francisco at the Embassy.
