SSN and K1 working

Hi Guys,

I arrived in the US 4 days ago... Now im Thinking about applying the SSN. When do i do this and what do i need?

Also, K1 is an alien allowed to work in the US. Will there be any problem during Job application?

In order to work your employer must complete the I-9 form. Please take a look at the I-9 and see what documents you have on you that allow you satisfy the document requirements. The SSC you receive as a K-1 visa holder will have printed on it the following: "NOT VALID FOR WORK WITHOUT DHS AUTHORIZATION" which just so happens to be the EAD or GC both are List A documents. The fact that the K-1 is allowed to work is so that you can go down to the SSA and apply for a SSC. This is one of the loopholes that the SSA would just love to get rid of and only issue SSCs to GC holders only, but for now the K-1 can apply for the SSC.

You cannot legally work without the SSN AND the EAD or GC.
