Alright! I am getting super nervous! I was reading someones post and they had all of this stuff in joint names! My husband and I only have our bank account in both names. he is on my insurance for next year, and I am on his car insurance but it states that I cannot drive his car (I can't drive a manual). Also he was the only one who signed the lease because I wasn't able to meet with our landlords when he went to sign it, but they know that I am living in the same apartment and that we are married and that we moved in together and everything. So, our interview is tomorrow morning and I have statements of bills showing that we live in thew same apartment and we pay different parts of the utilities. I pay gas and electric, he pays rent, cable/internet. So I don't know what to do exactly. We didn't make any large purchases because we had everything from before. And even when we do, I either give him cash and he puts it on his credit card, or I get the cash and give him a check. So... What am I to do! We've been together off and on for 3 years now. The only reason for the offs was because I was moving around and it was hard to have a long distance relationship. We have tons of pictures that we can bring to show that we have been together for so long. Anyway, any advice would be wonderful!

Oh yeah, i have asked this once before but need more clarification.

As your interview is tomorrow it is a bit late to worry about it all now.... you will have to take what you have and if asked explain why you dont have joint names on things...

A letter from your landlord would also help... he/she can confirm that you live at the same address and that you have lived there since you married....

As for your new employment info, a letter from your employer and pay stubs for the last few months should be enough...

Good Luck

We didn't have anything held jointly at the time of our interview. I had put her name on one life insurance policy, but that didn't require a social security number. That was our main holdup, no social security number. We showed tickets to fly to meet my daughter's family on the east coast and photos of us with family and relatives here in America.

I explained about the problems with no social security number and they seemed to understand that. My wife still isn't on my home title but that we'll do before the two year period is up. For most men in a community property state, that is a rather big step.

The best thing is joint checking accounts and filing of tax returns. We were only married in January so don't have any joint tax returns yet.
