Hello,

I am almost the my NOA2 stage for my wife. What does she need from Canada? Is it just a report from the RCMP in her town. I just want to make sure she is covered? Thanks in advance.

NVC

01-14-14 case received by NVC

02-19-14 case number and IIN# assigned, gave NVC email add.

02-19-14 optin for electronic processing email sent

02-24-14 submitted DS-261

02-25-14 invoiced and paid for I-864

02-27-14 AOS shown as paid

03-10-14 optin email accepted by NVC

03-11-14 DS-261 accepted by NVC

03-12-14 scanned and emailed AOS

03-12-14 invoiced and paid for IV fees

03-24-14 IV fees shown as paid

04-02-14 Received and Resubmitted AOS checklist

08-01-14 DS-260 completed and submitted by wife

As for the police certificate, my wife got hers from the local police station. They have a form there you fill out and hand to them. Then they will run her check and stamp/sign it with the results and give it back to you. She got hers back within an hour of waiting at the police station. Basically, the search has to include the national database - search across Canada (I think it's called CPIC database?). Someone mentioned to me that the certificate needs to come from RCMP but my wife never got that and didn't have any problems. I think the RCMP one (including fingerprint search) is only necessary if the person has a criminal record, but I'm not sure. Like I said, my wife only got the check from the local police station and we are expecting her green card in the mail soon.

You can also get a certificate from Commissionaires. Make sure to include any names she has used (maiden name, current married name) on the actual certificate. Sometimes Commissionaires is faster, it just depends.

I found the RCMP to be really easy but not every city does them. I went in, 10 mins later I paid $25 and had the police clearance on hand.

June 3, 2013 - NOA1!

August 19, 2013 - NOA2! (email)

October 10, 2013 - NVC has our case, Vancouver number assigned

***Communications with Vancouver begging to put my case on hold a while due to house not selling!!!***

February 18, 2014 - Packet 3 Submitted

February 20, 2014 - Packet 4!!

May 5, 2014 - Medical

May 7, 2014 - Consulate Interview

May 13, 2014 - K1 visa in hand!!!

July 2, 2014 - POE (Sweetgrass)<p>

July 23, 2014 - apply for EI (mother of god that was confusing...)<p>

August 11, 2014 - finally get hitched!

September 16, 2014 - send off AOS/AP/EAD

It depends on the local office. In my town, they didn't do them and the RCMP ones took 6 weeks or whatever. You just have to check your local police department or go thru Commissionaires.

nope, there was no one in line because it was the middle of the day. And I think it was $25.. might have been $35 but i could come get a new one in 3 months for free if needed. Obviously it was acceptable because I've been living in the USA since June! LOL
