Medical/Interview Question

Is there a time limit on medical and getting the interview completed? I mean my fiance took her medical already and interview is today. I'm just waiting to hear from her. If the visa is approved will she be able to travel to the US in Jan/Feb next year? Is there a time limit on medical or once you pass it and visa interview you can travel to the US any time? Also how much time is given to travel to the US before her visa expires?

Thanks! I'm nervously waiting to hear if she passed or not.

An immigrant / K-1 visa is valid for six months from the date of the medical or the date of issuance, whichever comes earlier (99% of time it's the medical).

For most people they will have 4 - 5 months of validity on theirs, due to the medical being ahead of the issuance.

"An immigrant visa is usually valid for up to six months from the date of issuance unless your medical examination validity expires sooner, which may make your visa valid for less than six months. You must arrive and apply for admission in the United States before the visa Expiration Date."

So from what I read my fiance will have to enter the US by Feb/March 2014 since her medical was done in Oct? But I'm assuming the sooner the better.

the validity of the visa is 6 months and is tied to the medical date. if she did her medical last oct, she has until april 2014.

Thanks All! This is going to be a great Thanksgiving even though she will not be here with me to celebrate it, but next year we will be able to celebrate all the holidays and special occasions together. Now time to wait for the passport and visa and for her to do the CFO. Time is flying by.

Woohoo! Visa is in "issued" status. Not much longer now till my fiance receives it. This is going to be a wonderful holiday season! Too bad we wont be able to spend it together since the plan is for her to come her in Feb 2014. I'm counting down the days till I go pick her up.
