No.

OMG, I nearly spit my tea all over my laptop! That was funny, I don't care WHO you are...

I almost did the same!

OK, as a woman who has been married to both a circumcised and an uncircumcised man (not at the same time), and who had her son circumcised at birth I can say that it all depends on the parents. My husband is quite meticulous in the shower and has never had a problem...he was born in the UK and its not common to circumcise there. It is not "odd" looking or ugly, but it was different when I first caught a glimpse. I wasn't used to it. It works just fine though...hehehe.

Now, my ex husband was circumcised and that is mostly the reason I had my son circumcised 20+ years ago. Would I do it again...hmm, don't know. I don't think its necessary as long as the child is taught how to care for it. Would he have been teased in the showers in gym class for being different? Again, not sure. Like I said, its up to the parents but seriously not necessary and I can't believe a woman is being forced to do it for religious reasons! mad.gif

Parents or children making the choice, that is one thing, but should a government make the choice for you? I think most would say no. Vaccines and circumcision are in no way comparable.

Religion aside, I found this. What are the benefits of circumcision?

There is some evidence that circumcision has health benefits, including:

  • A decreased risk of urinary tract infections.
  • A reduced risk of sexually transmitted diseases in men.
  • Protection against penile cancer and a reduced risk of cervical cancer in female sex partners.
  • Prevention of balanitis (inflammation of the glans) and balanoposthitis (inflammation of the glans and foreskin).
  • Prevention of phimosis (the inability to retract the foreskin) and paraphimosis (the inability to return the foreskin to its original location).

Circumcision also makes it easier to keep the end of the ####### clean.

Those things are true, but the question is, to what degree? I mean, how hard is it to keep one's genitalia clean? Women do it all the time (to differing degrees, of course), and the areas are similar in nature, right?

Now, if one lived in an austere environment, I'd say keeping it clean would be more challenging. Just like a #######, you're not spoda use soap, as it upsets the natural chemical balance (though feminine wash is spoda be better for the va-j-j with it's low Ph - the V is an acidic thing, in an attempt to kill sperm naturally). But if you live in a developed environment with clean running water, no big deal keeping it healthy.

####### will develop. That's life, happens to both sexes. Wash it, don't let it ferment. Also, you should never retract a baby's foreskin to clean inside. This can damage the #######.

Here's an article with more info if ye care to read about it. Since your husband isn't already circumcised, I'd personally advise against it.

Unless you can find a man who wasn't circumcised, had sexual experience, then snipped the hoodie, it would be hard to argue one way or the other about the sensitivity. But I think it's logical that a covered, lubricated glans would have more feeling than an exposed one. Imagine if the ####### were exposed, and was rubbed daily by cotton undies for a few years... I suspect it would become desensitized.

** ETA ** That penile cancer they claim to protect against? Something like a 1% rate in infants. And it's typically caused by uneducated parents retracting the foreskin before its time, tearing the sensitive structure.

Its not a gender issue.. or really even a religious issue (other than it influenced the law in the first place).. Both parents have equal rights in this case and instead of it being a veto vote on circumcision it is a veto vote on *not* circumcision.. So one of the parents used their veto vote on not circumcising and the other can't interfere. If she wanted it done and he was not allowing to happen then it would be him facing the fine.

peculiar law... Though this is one case where I think the father has a little bit more inside knowledge of the repercussions.. Probably no place on the planet where a boy will stand out more not being circumcised.

Also makes me wonder.. Suppose two parents in the U.S. disagree on circumcision and when the father has the child in his custody he has it done.. Are there any possible repercussions from this?

I don't believe it.. Prove it to me and I still won't believe it. -Ford Prefect

Those were some interesting points. I didn't see anything addressing the cervical cancer however.

Yes but talking statistically those who are circumcised have fewer problems..

For example the UN has programs for males to voluntary get circumcised in Africa. The cost for 20 million circumcisions is expected to be 1.5 billion with a net savings from reduced AIDS cases of 16.5 billion.

Good point, and obviously it's more relevant in an austere environment such as Africa. But I'd wager that performing the surgery over there, given the conditions, would result in quite a few infections, too. And... that's one of the countries that perform vaginal mutilation. *shudder* I mean, it's one thing to remove the ####### in an attempt to keep it clean. But the only reason I see to remove the ####### is to prevent women from enjoying sex. Truly barbaric and sadistic, IMHO.

True.. I would guess that the social stigma of getting it done where it is not normally done or vice-versa is the largest effect and overriding concern for parents.. I remember when my son was born and I had to make that decision. I had read it was being done less and less.. I just wanted it to be the same as most of his peers - it was a tough decision.

Same here. It was a hard decision. Looking back, I wish I hadn't done it. Wish my parents hadn't, either. IMHO, it should be a decision the individual makes when he is old enough to understand the implications and (possible) benefits.

I was going to post some ####### pics to compare circumcised vs non circumcised, but I figured Charles would get mad and all the CABA chicks would start foamin' at the mouth. whistling.gif

I miss the good old days also.

So luckytxn misses posting pics of circumcised and uncircumcised penises. Got it. We all have our own little foibles, eh?
