I have been under one profession (teaching) for 20 years, and same employer, so I am wholly out of touch with how people go about finding a job these days or where to go. So I could use some advice.

My fiance, who is from the Philippines, will be coming here on a K-1 visa one month from now. We will get married right away, then file for the AOS/EAD/AP mid-January. I assume she will have her EAD sometime in mid-Spring, although there is no rush for her to get a job, as I can support her for as long as she needs.

I have no idea where to direct her in her search for a job or what to do. Do we do it through agencies, websites, job fairs? If so, how do we find these?

She has a bachelor's degree in computers, but that was 10 years ago. Her employment has been largely as a telephone customer service representative for companies like AT&T. While she will look for CSR type jobs in the U.S., she is open to other types of employment, but preferably jobs where she can sit in an office, desk, or cubicle, rather than labor or "cashier" type jobs.

Maybe temporary agencies is the place to start? If so, what are some good ones in San Diego? If not, what else or where else is a good way to go about this?

But any help in this area, so at least we can get started, would be very helpful. Thank you. :)

Try Volt, Appleone or Kelly Services. Check out malls also, like Kay or Daniel's Jewelers if she wants to try out sales

Thanks! :) If you don't mind me asking, if you decided to work, what did you end up getting in terms of employment after getting your EAD, and how did you go about looking for work? Did you have more success in certain avenues than others?

I've been here for 17 years now, it's Mike who's the noob lol He works at retail now since it's his background and 3 blocks away from home. The store happened to open as soon as he was approved for his green card. We grabbed the opportunity as he's going crazy staying home plus I want a sane hubby and father to our child lol we'll try another job once he gets experience and get the feel of the American dream :P
