Philippine Support Groups/Organizations in San Diego/SoCal

My fiance will be arriving on a K-1 visa in a month. One fear that I have is of her getting homesick and lonely, despite the dedication and attention I will be giving her and depsite the big city she will be in with all there is to do, simply because she will be so far from home and what she is used to, culturally and socially.

I don't know any Filipinos/Filipinas here in San Diego (or anywhere really), but I want to sure to have in place a support network for her that involves people from the Philippines living here in San Diego and/or helping Filipinos/Filipina immigrants with adjustments in every area, from finding groceries that carry Filipino food to finding work.

So any help, contacts, or ideas in this area would be extremely beneficial for both of us. Thank you in advance. :)

I'll be staying at San Diego for a month, we are getting married there. Then we move to my fiance's base in North Carolina. I wont really be much help for a long time but if she needs a friend to talk to (like if she starts missing hearing Tagalog), I'd be more than happy to hang out with her smile.png Maybe I can help her discover places that carry Filipino goods since I have plenty of relatives in that area that can point them out for us.

Filed: IR-5 Country: Philippines
Timeline

My fiance who is from Oceanside( abt 30 mins away from SD), joined the Fil-Am Cultural Association of North SD. Though, I am still here in the Phils, he already has many Filipino friends there because he has been an active member. Also, he is able to experience filipino foods during meetings and events..He even goes to a Filipino church during Sundays. Perhaps by joining such, you guys can meet Filipino friends :-)

You should have no problem meeting lots of Filipinos in SD. Mira Mesa, National City and Chula Vista got tons. I personally don't belong to any group but lucky to have all my families here already. Go to any Seafood City or any Filipino restaurants and you'll sure find them :)

I do know about the fact there are a lot in National CIty, as I see restaurants driving around down there while working (I work in National City), but, funny thing is, I only ever see Mexicans down there lol. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong places or not looking hard enough lol. :D
