Expedite Processing, does this mean it really gets faster from here?

Hello fellas,

After grueling 10 months, my mom's I-130 paperwork just got approved yesterday after 4 business days after I filed for expedite petition related to an emergency humanitarian situation ( Typhoon Haiyan, that hit Philippines). My question is,

1. Does the Expedite processing only applies getting a faster approval or it applies to the whole remaining process until we get an interview date for my mother?

Thank you so much!

This is according to the US Embassy website in Manila :http://manila.usembassy.gov/wwwh3023.html

"The Department of State is aware of USCIS’s decision to begin expediting I-130 petitions filed by U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents. Upon receiving approved, expedited I-130 petitions for Filipino beneficiaries from USCIS, the Department of State’s National Visa Center (NVC) will schedule immigrant visa (IV) interviews for the U.S. Embassy in Manila as resources allow."

Dont count on it. My dad's case was approved since August 23, 2013 and his case still at NVC. It's been 3 months and They have not reviewed his file to complete his case. I am losing hope.

You would expect another 3 months or more before your parent/s case will be forwarded to US Embassy in Manila. Goodluck! Read my timeline.

No the expedite is not throughout since you are dealing with different governing bodies.

You expedited at USCIS. Now you have to call NVC and request an expedite to get immediately sent to embassy.

So I would be on the phone now and get that started.

Thank you all for the replies.

I just got approved yesterday with an expedite processing application, and just this morning, I received another notification saying the the local service center just shipped my mom's paperwork to NVC.

Now, should I wait until NVC receives the packet, or should wait until I get the case number from them and apply for another expedite application?

I would call NVC for the case # and request for expedite right away.

To Cutie_Patootie, in the USCIS website, it says there that the burden belongs to the petitioner to prove whether an "expedite" is warranted. May I ask how the USCIS determined the valid grounds in your case? Did they ask for photos of the damage by the typhoon and any other material proof? My mom has a pending I-130 petition and we come from Bohol province which got a double whammie; first the October earthquake and then the November typhoon.

Does the "expedite" work only for those petitions filed prior to these catastrophes or do they work even for those petitions filed after. Thing is, we filed her petition just last 19-Dec. We already received NOA-1 last 23-December.
