Hi everyone,

I would like to receive some comments from you because I'm a little stressed-out with this process, especially because I'm a lawyer and I don't have any idea about immigration in USA. (by the way I'm from Chile).

We sent the form I-130 on July 17, 2013 and the USCIS notified us on September 17, 2013 that they received the I-130 form "IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE (my wife requested me in this form). We sent all the information (pictures, bank check, birth certificate of my wife, married certificate, health insurance, official translations fromMinistry of Foreign Affairs, etc).

At this moment, we have not received any news and I'm a little worried because the check was collected.

After we received the form I-797C with my receipt number, what's next? and how long does the next step take? (I know is relative, but in your experience...)

Thanks for all your comments.

Guille!

Don't feel bad about being a lawyer but drawing blanks about USCIS stuff. You should actually pat yourself on the back - you are among the very few lawyers willing to admit that they are drawing blanks.

Now, about the wait after NOA1, no sweat there. It comes standard.

Finally, the last week I received some emails from USCiS about my case. The last email said that "The I130 IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN was transferred and is now being processed at a USCIS office. You will be notified by mail when a decision is made, or if the office needs something from you. " I'm not an expert but I think the interview is coming soon, right? I heard the Embassy here in chile takes like 60 days in arrange a date with the petitioners, is that right?
