Received 221(g). What now??

So fiancé had interview today. Interview went well, but they gave him a 221(g) because I need a co-sponsor. They kept his passport and he paid the visa fee. They didn't give him any info after that. Anyone know what to do at this point? So confused

You need to find someone (LPR or USC) whose income meets the poverty guideline requirements for K1, based on that person's number of household members plus your fiancee.

Once you've submitted the joint sponsor's affidavit of support documents to the embassy, they will review it, and if everything is in order, they'll issue the K1 visa (might take a couple of days to weeks though).

You should obtain a qualified co sponsor and get their affadavit of support and tax records into the embassy ASAP. You can submit those using the token (or piece of paper he should have been given) go to AMEX and submit the papers using the numbers on the token so the embassy can put those documents with the file for review. It should take about 4 weeks or so once they are submitted

Agree with Eabbas, Also there have been some incidences that some people have been refused to file with co-sponcer on K1 visa. Generally the interviewing agent will see this as a liabiliy, perhaps after immigration the beneficiary may become a public charge. So if you have to go the route of Co-sponcer use someone who is a very close relative. Best cosponcers are your parents and siblings, someone with a blood connection. Hopefully they have high income and can portray they will support you during the K1 process financially if needed.

co-sponsor don't have to be very close relative, anyone who qualify USC or LPR can be a co-sponsor. they don't care who's your co-sponsor they just want to insure that the person qualifies or not..if your parents or siblings qualify go for it but that doesn't mean they will issue a visa soon or it help the process on fast track...

As soon as they get everything in order then they will issue your visa since they have your passport/your fiance's passport
