My husband's GP office say they do not have records of his vaccinations because being born in 1971, the parents of children kept them?Is anyone else running into this problem?

How on earth are we to locate these? Surely they are on file somewhere?!

well, if they are unavailable, GP can take a titer and check if the vaccines are present in the blood. For Frankfurt consulate, they say, if the records are unavailable, there are only 3 required vaccination for someone between 18 and 64: MMR, Tdap and Varicella.

thanks scienceworks. we feel that our GP's office just isn't being very helpful. They are always a bit useless.

he's lived here his whole life. it just seems bit silly that 'only his mother' would have the records.

Well, you are asking him to go through dusty files dates 40 years. Don't expect much cooperation there. Plus there is no money involved. Email the consulate/embassy and ask what vaccinations are required if records are unavailable. My wife is also in same situation. The hospital has no records so we are pursuing the titer path.

Varicella is not required in the UK (the vaccine isn't routinely available, so you get a waiver for it).

I was born in 1960! I asked for a printout of my records expecting it to show only recent boosters but everything was on it dating back to 1960. I was amazed and very impressed - somebody in Kent's medical records had been very busy and very thorough.

You might just need to get them redone. The list looks long at first but when you take out all the ones you don't need it is not too bad. Probably only a diphtheria/pertussis/combo booster and the MMR which you won't have had as a baby anyway plus influenza. As lost_at_sea says, you can't get the varicella vaccine in the UK so as long as you tell the clinic that you have had chicken pox you will get a waiver for that one.

My husband had vaccination records but they gave him all the required vaccinations regardless. Worst case is that he would have to get 3-4 shots that day.
