I am so sorry to hear this and wish you the best in your endeavours. I am not trying to get "into your business" but if you are a Christian is it possible to get the pastor or head of your church to write an affidavit regarding your baptism/confirmation or church affiliation, that is, if he knows your Dad and Step mom, etc. It might help.

Love is a gift and not to be earned, therefore one should never hold any regrets for giving love regardless of the outcome...

It is extremely unusual not to have any photos with your dad.... is it just that YOU don;t have any, or that you have never met him after you were a baby? If it is the first, reach out to family and friends to see if they have any photos.

Camera was a luxury in many places. My family don't have any photos from our childhood.

Mikey i think you have gotten some good ideas here of asking family to write up something..had he ever sent money to you.. Western Union keeps transaction history. if he ever filled out any paperwork as your guardian.. praying you can come up with something that will be good enough for them.

glad your able to stay positive and disregard the negative comments.. smh.. crazy how easy it is for others to pass judgement, but stay encouraged....

God Bless

Mikey a few mths back U posted your concerns that your step-mom had raised u since age one and your

biological mom died when U were 4-5 yrs...Your concern then was that they may do a DNA with your dad

since his name was added to your birth cert. around age 7, remember I told U , usually DNA request by the

Embassy is usually after its been added after age 14, however wid di whole heapa Jacket dem a fine, its

been requests now at any age.

If U have no pics with dad U should go back to your schools he registered U along with step mom for those

school registration copies, prep/primary, All age & high schools, if your family were members of a church or

wherever U were Christened, U can request copies, your tourist visa apps while a child can be referenced,U

did say he took U to Embassy, your G/parents on both sides can give U letters signed by a JP...U R still very

young U must be able to find teachers & a coach to vouch, since your step-mom had left u & dad in JA when

she 1st got to the USA u said...Its not hard in Jamaica to back track on anyone as ppl talks a lot , the COs R

very aware of local customs, they want to prove a bond with your dad, since they did not ask for DNA . If U

have no pics get documents and stop stressing about DNA until its required, even some of your own school

friends can write attesting to him being dad when they came by the house

Hi VJ ever since I've been on this site you guys have helped me a lot and I want to thank you all. you guys are a blessing... now to my story:

My journey started on Feb 22 2013 when my step mom filed the i130, It was approved there after and while at NVC we got a check list because she didn't put the date on the AOS form! Finally it was approved. On the day of the interview, the CO said that everything was OK but just two small problems...My dad put his name on my Birth Certificate 7 years after I was born and so because Jamaica is a High Fraud country he needed proof of relationship.Thank fully he didn't request DNA instead he asked for me to get pictures of me and my dad together. The only pic I had with my dad was when he was holding me when I was a baby, sadly he has been looking for it and cannot find it...The CO also requested that I get a form from my school with my dad name on it... that I have.. he also needed Joint sponsor and that I have.. Right now I don't know what to do... because sadly I don't have the money to do DNA and i'm afraid he might NOT be my dad and then everything would go to waste.. I don't know what to do... I'm depressed ! Thank you all for reading and Have a great journey smile.png

Keep in the positive side, so far you have overcome every obstacle thrown your way, you are almost there. And there is something more important you might have not realized: you fall and you stand up and keep the fight, exactly what will get you very far once you get to the US. Others have suggested affidavits, I'd get those regardless of pictures and if you find pics, now you have additional proof.

Don't give up!!

Extreme Happiness I thank you so much for your kind words. My dad and I fortunately live together but we never see it necessary to take any photos together as I'm not the " fussy type " I have features of him and I will stop think negative about our biological relationship. As it relates to the monetary side of it.. my step mom unfortunately does not make enough money and I've used up all my savings during this process. My dad has his financial matters to take care of BUT this morning.. I prayed to God and I've asked him to bring me through and I know with God everything is possible. Guys Thanks a lot smile.png

PS VJ: I'm a male and my step mom and dad have been taking care of me since I was about 1 year as my mom was in the hospital and couldn't. My mom later died when I was about 4 or 5 years.

Thank you so much for your kind words smile.png

I was about to post that Mikey. I took the time to read your profile and realized you are a "male" and actually are representing yourself here because you want to do what you can to speed your process along.

Don't worry about it...there are a lot of people here with excellent advice that will keep you ahead of the game.

Was the 'foreigner' bit necessary? In any case, many 'foreigners' write and speak American English much better - and by far, than a lot of Americans. For example, you did not care much about your English to proof your post. Let us discuss issues and assist each other around here with humility and consideration.

So agree..and there are actually more than one more mis-spelt words there.

Mikey876, please forgive me for referring to you as "she". I didn't realize until I took the time to read your profile and see that you are a male teen, which can suggests why you are not able to afford the cost of a DNA should they require it. But since the CO didn't ask for it, just focus and what you are able to produce as evidence to strengthen your paternal ties.

Chin up my yute...we Jamaicans are resilient and have inner strength that help to propel us, even when we think we cannot go no more.

I'm going through a similar situation with my fiance having to get DNA on two of his kids. The extra cost of a DNA test that was not expected is very hard to come by and has absolutely nothing to do with your ability to survive in the states. Keep the faith and remain positive. I was actually on the verge of throwing in the towel being that I have tuition and 2 kids of my own to care for. However you have come to far to give up now. Remember a delay is not a denial. Good luck to you

I see you got approved but I was just curious and I am pretty sure your response might help others in similar situations...what did you do? did you get the pictures or did you summit the DNA? you see you felt like you wanted to give up but God had your back.....you came thus far and it didn't make sense giving up.....never ever give up on anything until there is nothing left to fight for....I wish you all the best and happy holiday

Congrats Mikey876! I agree with Extreme Happiness...you need to come back and give us an update as to what transpired after the advice you received. It will definitely help someone else on VJ who might have the same situation as you had. Good luck on your journey.
