I just had my interview last November.

Yes, I answered the DS-160 online and printed the confirmation page. You will show this to the guard at the entrance, along with your interview appointment.

Effective October 7, 2013, ONLY the DS-160 confirmation page is required by the embassy during the interview + I-134 together with the other documents/evidences listed on the interview instructions I linked earlier. DS-160 has replaced the other DS Forms.

OK, thanks! I've emailed the lawyer my DS-160 and I'm still waiting for his reply. Once I get his reply (as to how I should answer certain questions) only then will I submit my DS-160 online.

So I should bring only the DS-160 confirmation page and not a copy of the DS-160 itself plus all other supporting documents.

Yes, just the confirmation page with the barcode. If you decide to print a copy of the entire DS-160 application, that will only be for your personal use.

Hello! I am a newbie here. I am really glad when i heard about the first same sex visa was approved last year here in the Philippines. That's why me and my fiancé decided to apply for a k1 visa. We hired an immigration lawyer for us to help and make sure all the documentation are complete because we don't want to jeopardize our application.

Our lawyer sent the mail on January 17, 2014 and he said he will just update me for the progress. I hope and I pray that my K1 application will be approve even if last year my Tourist visa got denied. I hope this won't affect at all.

By the way, my relationship with my fiancé is 14 months now, do you think the embassy will question me regarding how fast we decided to get married? We met last year and I compiled a lot of pictures of the both of us. Can you give me some tips about the interview? Like what should I bring and what should I know more about my fiancé.

I am unemployed as of the moment and my fiancé supports me in my monthly bills, would that affect my application?

Thanks!

I too am applying for a K1 visa for my fiancé.....with heterosexual K1 applications the period of knowing each other has to be 2 years maximum, so you are within the time. Refusal of a previous visa (UNLESS due to visa fraud)...simple 214(b) refusal doesn't count. They could ask you why you didn't tell them about your boyfriend in the USA, they should know that it is dangerous to say that of same sex couples in other countries.

Whether or not you work in Phillppines is not their issue. If your fiancé in the US signs and provides proof of income to support both of you before you start working here is the what they would want. Letters, photos from friends/family/chat logs/phone calls/ etc etc to document your relationship is what they will want

That is incorrect. The requirement is to have met in person within the past 2 years. No knowing each other for 2 years. You could have met yesterday and filed today with no issue.

Yes you are correct. I mistook knowing with last having met. Here is the correct information:

Source USCIS Website

You met each other, in person, at least once within 2 years of filing your petition. There are two exceptions that require a waiver:

1. If the requirement to meet would violate strict and long-established customs of your or your fiancé(e)’s foreign culture or social practice.

2. If you prove that the requirement to meet would result in extreme hardship to you.

HI. Your employment status there will have no bearing on the visa decision. My partner was not working when we filed and interviewed. It wasn't even a question anyone cared. They only cared that I was able to provide financial support while we both were living in the US.

14 months? That sounds like enough time to decide if you want to marry or not. There are still people out there using mail-order brides who only meet in order to satisfy the requirement. If you've met 14 months ago and you feel it's what you both want then no one should have anything to say.......

As far as the interview.....know the information in the packet .......read it over and over again. If they ask a question that isn't answered in the visa packet they wont' know if you answered correctly or not.....just know the packet information and know why you love your partner.

Thank you so much for answering all my questions. By the way when I was applying for tourist visa, i placed my fiancé as my friend and my contact in the US because I was afraid they will think that I won't go back in the Philippines if I placed her as my fiancé. Our lawyer told us that it won't affect my k1 application for as long as i didn't commit any material misrepresentation.

Btw, should I also print all the remittance slips?

baby print everything that ties the two of you together. our book looked like an encyclopedia. maybe it was necessary, maybe not, but I asked no one what they thought about it and just printed it, filed it, and had it on the standby. the book was never looked at, but there's power in holding the book because it really has the answer to any question they could ask. best of luck to you both.

Just got my certified NSO copies of my birth certificate and CENOMAR (I got 5 of each, in case I have future need for those documents!) from SM mall.

Almost done discussing with my lawyer the details of how to fill in the online DS-160. Next stop : medical.
