I am new to these forums, and in need of advice.

I am Canadian and have been dating an American for a few months now. We really want to be together but are not sure applying for a k1 visa is what we want at this very moment. I was however considering going back to school, does anyone know anything about student visas? Would USCIS have issues with that if they know I'm dating an American? And if I do decide to do so, what does that imply for us as far as me living there and eventually getting married.

Canadiens have another path available. Study a bit more, you'll find it.

Darnell,

I've done a lot of research and haven't found any other options, besides applying for a green card myself and the chances of getting it are very low.

ok - research a bit, what's available to a foreign spouse,

after marriage to a USCitizen, inside the USA.

Yes but the point is we do not want to be married before I live there.

If you apply for a student visa and your actual intentions are that you want to stay in the US and get married to a US then its best to consider fiance visa route rather then student visa. Maybe you can consult an immigration attorney and discuss your options.
