Inspection Report of US Embassy Hanoi and CG HCMC

This post contains a link to a full report that was sent to me per a FOIA (Freedom of Information Act) request I made. The inspection of US Embassy Hanoi and US Consulate General Ho Chi Minh City was performed between May and June 2005. The full report is redacted in part because of 5 U.S.C. Section 552 (B)(2) exemption which means the information are "related solely to the internal personnel rules and practices of an agency."

The reason I made the FOIA request because I thought it would help my case going through the HCMC consulate. The repport is only mildly interesting and offers some new information. I now know how many FSO were working the consular section in HCMC in 2005. And I also know that HCMC has the largest fiancee visas applications of all the posts. It is also the sixth largest immigrant visas post.

Reading this report will help everyone going through HCMC better understand the pressures the consulate is under and their very short staff. The inspection report is only accurate upto when the inspection was performed.
