Hello all i am sure the answer to this question is here somewhere but seems i am not wording my searches right.

I am currently filing out the I130 form and was wondering do I use my married name (now that we are married) or do i have to use my maiden name which my passport is.

Thank you in advance

If you wish that your Green card is in your married name, then fill up all USCIS forms in your married name.

See this thread for more information:

According to the thread,

I suggest you use the name you wish to have the green card issued in. If that is your married name, then list your married name. You don't need any identification in your married name at the moment. But you're visa will be issued in the name in the passport, if you want this to be your married name then I suggest you change your passport soon.

Good luck.

Why not remove the confusion and update your passport to be in your married name?

We filed in my previous name (im the beneficiary) as we filed right after we got married and I hadn't returned home yet to change my passport. We will change it when it gets to NVC by providing my "cancelled" passport in my previous name and supplying my new passport in my married name. I hope that works. I have heard here that is the way to do it.

For green card to be in married name, passport and visa must be in married name.
