Kuwait Embassy holding Passport/Visa K1 past expiration date

What if anything is required by me at this point???

I received this : "We have received your K1 petition from NVC, please find attached our instructions. The petition is valid till 18-NOV-2013."

Then we had the interview date: "Thank you for your e-mail. Your appointment will be on Tuesday, October 29th , 2013. They are still holding my fiancee's passport". The K1 petition has expired,,,we have been in communication, but nothing mentioned about the expiration date, will it be extended??... Is that automatic??

Anyone??

if they kept the passport its a good sign........you could contact the embassy and ask for them to extend the expiration date of the petition or you could contact them and state that your worried because of the expiration date of the petition.....it does not always work to ask them to extend it........

One thing is the petition, the other is the K1 visa. It's ok for the I-129F petition to expire. If you've had the interview and your visa is being processed, you're ok.

I can confirm this didn't seem to be a big deal, we were also going through the consulate here in Kuwait our interview was a few days before the expiration date and they held the passport until 30+ days past the date of expiration. We got our visa today.

The consulates can, and often automatically do, extend petition validity in 4-month increments.

Your fiance already had the interview done which is mean your I-129F approval is invalid now. K-1 visa at embassy stage meanwhile I-129F is USCIS stage. Hope you can prepare the papers you need to get your K-1 visa being completed. Good luck.
